And now for my next trick, the Amazing Disappearing Trailer!

Got a load assignment to haul Hill-Phoenix from the yard to Portland, OR. Nice trip. 2881 paid miles. I've never been to Oregon. I am powerful excited. Especially since I just had two unscheduled days off due to a stomach bug.

Trailer isn't on the yard, though. I call Don. "Think it's over at Hill-Phoenix by us?" "Yeah, probably. That's where it was loaded."

So I bobtail that way. Turn the corner, and there's the trailer I'm looking for, hooked up to an AMX daycab, coming back the other way. I make a U-turn as soon as conditions allow and head back to the yard.

    It ain't here.

I shoulda got here in time to see the dude still unhooking the trailer from his daycab. But it ain't here. I've driven around the yard three times. No trailer. No AMX daycab aside from the two up front by the gate that have been there all morning.

Been dealing with home issues still. My mothers doing better, but still has a long road for recovering. Working on getting out of bed and standing/balancing on one leg. We were hoping it wouldn't be a full 2 months in this rehab facility, but as weak as she seems to be, it looks like it will be. Plus that fixator on her leg is cumbersome and throws her off balance. Oh, and the food is not very good, either. I guess my old man needs to get with the program and start bringing her his home cooking! Then I know she will at least get one good meal a day.

And then.... went to take my physical this past Monday. BP way too high (171/79), so no card for me. Not even a 3 month. On BP meds now, waiting for it to normalize so I can get back to work, in a much shorter hauling capacity for a while. I suppose I can take solace in the fact that I was not the only driver that was told their BP was too high that day and didn't get a card.

Yes. Although you may have a shorter run, say 800 miles, many times, but you do run.

As it turns out, the trailer number that was put in my load assignment was the wrong trailer number. After spending an hour looking for it, and then another 40 minutes or so waiting for it to come back from wherever the guy took it, we finally found out that it was the wrong trailer number, and the trailer that I really needed had been on the yard the entire time.

At that point, of course, we discovered that the paperwork was not with the trailer. Because why not?
