I must just be going at the right times as there has never been anyone in front of me...may just be the DC you went to though.

Surprisingly, I don't even feel mad at the previous driver. I killed over 5 hrs of my 14 which completely screwed the my trip plan for the load i was under, so can understand why no one would want to deal with it if they didn't absolutely have to.

Maybe there needs to be a truck/trailer check in like CR England does at their Colton yard. Noone gets past the gates without a mechanic checking the truck over.

Having said that I would probably be one of the first ones complaining about it being a PITA.

We have that at our company, and while it is a PITA at times, it's a good system. You know when you take a trailer off the yard it's road worthy. The guy gets down on a creeper and checks everything. If he finds anything it's written up and air line locked until fixed.

With the yahoos we have as mechanics, they probably wouldn't catch a dang thing wrong, though! SMH

Supposedly when trailers are dropped off in WM they are dropped off on the north side of the building and before they are moved to the south side for pickup they are run through their shop and inspected.

Not that all trailers will go through that location but Abilene seems to be going in that direction... or they just need more work there and that fills their time.

Easy Answer: Simply more efficient to have one driver wait to get five tires fixed instead of five drivers getting five individual tires fixed. Thank you for helping to increase the efficiency of the company....

There will be a little something extra in an upcoming paycheck... well, if you get your paycheck that is... ;-)

    Redtwin Thanks this.

Wow. Did somebody bother doing an inspection report on that?

Not as far as I can tell. The trailer was dropped by one of our drivers at a customer facility which then loaded the trailer for delivery. One or more drivers either didn't pretrip it or saw the tires and decided to roll the dice and run with it like that.

I don't have the stomach for gambling (or screwing over the next person to pull it), so I bit the bullet and called it in.
