Got empty early this morning. One of the hardest runs I've endured in the 39 years out here sightseeing. And to top it off, at 3:30 this morning, I'm involved with my unloader as he was trying to locate the keys for one of those cheap airline lock thingies they put on your air coupler to make sure you don't drive off with the forklift and driver still in the trailer.
When he found out that the keys went home with someone, he told me I would have to wait until 7am until his supervisor came in. Not hardly. A pliers and screwdriver took care of that. Granted it came off in two pieces, but at least I wasn't going to be up and down while they took care of their problem. It worked out just fine until he asked me who was going to pay for it. Of course, at 4am, tired and in no mood to negotiate a $5 piece of junk, I told him that was between him and the dude that left with the keys. I also mentioned to him that I was thinking of putting in for an hour of detention. The conversation ended at that point.
So right now we are waiting in Vegas for our next assignment. Had a DH move to Colton last night, but Kimberley called and said to nix the DH, too many trucks in Southern California.

Wheeeee!
The bottom of this downgrade levels off into a bridge over a gorge. Bridge isn't wide enough to accommodate two semis side-by-side without them trading paint. Then immediately past the end of the bridge is a sheer cliff face, so the road takes a hard 90-degree right turn.
Going down this thing with 65k GVW was a hoot.MidWest_MacDaddy and bigred81 Thank this. -
Just got loaded here in Vegas. Got to drop in San Diego in the morning. This works out perfectly. My rolling reset will be done at 3am.

Got loaded in Vegas yesterday, drove down to San Diego and unloaded this morning. On the way down my trainee got pulled in for a level 1 inspection on 15 in Ca. After unloading we had our new load assignment almost as soon as we sent in our empty call. Had to run up to Compton and reload. Got that on and was climbing Cajon pass at 2pm. The load doesn't drop in Columbus Ohio until Monday, but we are taking it to West Memphis for Saturday morning.

For the first time, I am driving into Califnordia with an agricultural load. The trailer is full of hay, going to Coalinga.
Do I need to know or worry about anything bringing an ag load into Cali? What's going to be different at the inspection station (if anything) from pulling a non-ag load into Cali? -
MidWest_MacDaddy and ExtremeUnction Thank this.

The hay load i had going to the same place didn't raise any issues. Told them what I had and they waved me through without looking at anything.
When you get to the consignee make sure you cross their on site scale before you go to the unload area. Oh, and bring nose clips, that place reeks.MidWest_MacDaddy and ExtremeUnction Thank this. -
Does Abilene have bonuses? How much can you make from a bonus? I'm in CDL school and Abilene is my top choice right now.
