As I understand it, the problem is that we do not get to Portland consistently enough to get someone their hometime on the regular.

Not often enough to get someone home. Best to think of Abilene's solo fleet as east-of-Mississippi regional.MACK E-6 Thanks this.

The Dearly Departed KD5AXG (or however those letters were arranged) had the same problem. He lived in Houston. Do we run to Houston? Sometimes. Do we run to Houston often enough to get KD5AXG home whenever he requested hometime? Apparently not.Lonesome and Rocknroller4 Thank this.

As near as I can tell from my limited experience, if we're running to Portland, it's either a Hill-Phoenix load or a broker load. Can't really count on either one being there when you need it.

They actually were going to hire me on, well they sent me for the drug screening and everything, but I ended up having to back out because I had some dental issues come up. So I know they will hire out of the NW sometimes but maybe they've changed it now. That was back in June 2016.

Well if they were going to hire you 10 months ago, I'd try to get on here before going to Schneider.
Again, the worst that can happen is they'll say "No", which leaves you no worse off than you are now.
Just make sure Rusty knows you live in Portland.Rocknroller4 Thanks this. -
Cool, thanks for all the suggestions and help. I will have to call first thing tomorrow because it's been about two weeks since I applied and didn't hear anything. They get many deliveries to Mississippi? I'd love to see the eastern part of the US.

Sorta. We pick up Honda parts from Byhalia and we deliver Niagra bottled water to the warehouse next door to the Honda place. I've also been to Indianola once.
-
We have another regular customer in Byhalia, ive run to Jacksonville FL from there. MS is also really close to the west Memphis AR yard.
Basically, if you work here you are going to see A LOT of the East coast. From memory, I know where all the broken pavement dips are on I95 in SC, and the officers at the FL agricultural inspection station and I are on a first name basis now.
I've been telling Rocknroller to call in for a while now. The recruiters here won't chase you like at other companies. Rusty is laid back and really easy to talk to, even if the answer is no, he isn't going to scream it at you.
Rocknroller4 Thanks this. -
LOL ... I am NOT putting that suitcase in any portion of my view that matters. That's anything below the top 10" of the windshield. I don't do much star gazing while driving.
Can you even see your right side hood mirror from the drivers seat with it there?Barn Door Bill Thanks this.
