In case anyone was wondering about Tim, my previous trainee, I got a phone call from safety yesterday morning, he too got the heave ho. It's too bad he and George couldn't switch positions in life, George is a mature adult that wants to succeed, Tim was not.

I don't know what happened to him. I got a phone call from him when I was on my way back from California last weekend saying everything between he and his wife was all worked out and that he couldn't wait to get back on the truck. I had it set up with dispatch to get him a ride to the Wytheville yard with only one of about 25 trucks per day that go there to meet me and get on my truck, I called him numerous times since that phone call, no answer, no return phone calls no answering text messages and never once called into Abilene. When he didn't return safety's phone calls that was it. Good kid, just needs to become an adult. I just wish him well. so far I'm 0-3. David quit after 2 weeks solo, George, well we know what happened there, and now Tim pulls a vanishing act. Not a very good record on my part. Oh well, I still have my job.

That's why I quit training after my wife (albeit we teamed after) but I decided I would never train again. I was 0-2 on my first 2 students after they went solo. Although I trained them to the best of my ability, I couldn't change their personalities or character. I couldn't have it on my shoulders knowing these guys just didn't take things seriously and didn't want that reflecting me.

I really hate what happened to George. Its always the honest ones who make mistakes and get shafted and the sneaky ones continue to stay out here.

There was a thread on here started by an ex commercial pilot who was seeking help in creating a checklist similar to what pilots use prior to a flight. Everything to check about the truck, paperwork, weather, etc. he gave up since most of the "help" was at best sarcastic. Something like that could be invaluable to a new trucker seems to me.

I know I couldn't train anyone. For one, I have too many bad habits, and I like being by myself in the truck.

Good for you. If you have any questions or concerns, just ask, one of us will have the answer. We aren't a bunch that will tell you to go back and read the previous 182 pages, we'll answer the questions. Sally will tell you straight, ex-military does that. I'm quite sure she will have an answer for you by Tuesday.

JB might beat you to a new Volvo. Ol Faithful here has started to develop a bit of a high rpm turbo screech. Its mild but its definitely bearing oriented. I clocked a company freightliner today on 95 in my personal car. 71mph exactly. Not fair. Im going to pout now.
