It's even worse when you see it happen at HP in Colonial Heights. Really felt it for that guy.

Is dropping a trailer an automatic termination?
-
Don't know, but I imagine it depends on circumstances. Empty trailer on company property with no damage to truck/trailer and it was dropped by a long time employee with no serious priors. I would be surprised if they didn't give the driver a second chance.
On the other hand, a newbie dropping a fully loaded trailer in the middle lane of the interstate...MidWest_MacDaddy, JohnBoy and bigred81 Thank this. -
Thursday had a easy drop near wytheville. About 4 hours out dispatch calls me askin if my eta was gonna be in 4 hours, which i thought odd. Then asked what they had for me next, and got a "we'll let ya know when ya get closer" which was even odder.
About this time i remembered extreme unctions 45k reefer that last i knew was still in wytheville. Really had no desire to go west on a friday when home is east. Also didnt feel like dealing with that heavy a load even though i have a lighter mack. I would have if needed, but just didnt want too..lol
After all that drama was given a load off the yard due in danville at 2pm on friday. It was one of those shopping cart loads. No bills to be found with it. Made my own set from some blank ones to get me down there. Then had to deal with recieving clerk to figure out what information he needed so that i couls get it from dispatch. Of course he wanted me to give him all the numbers that were on his paperwork, sitting in front of him, on his desk. Sounds like routine issue with lack of bills with these shopping carts.
Now sitting in new jersey less than 100 miles from my manhattan 2 stopper in the morning. Thankfully have the 48fter this trip. -

I'm in FL. Two sub 300 mile days in a 3 day stretch. Before that I had some sub 400 mile days. I was told on two occasions that freight was too heavy for me to take a 34hr reset, had to keep going as we were short on drivers and loads were waiting.
Sure hope freight drops off so I can start running 700+ days again. Driving for 5 hrs then sitting for 18hrs sure does take the wind out of your sails.MidWest_MacDaddy, Barn Door Bill, RebelChick and 3 others Thank this. -
Trainee update. Doing great. Great handling of the truck, great stamina, very safety conscience, couldn't hit the ocean backing up even if he was on the beach. Time to go and teach backing 101, again.
Lonesome, bigred81, Gwh1184 and 1 other person Thank this. -
Are they just lacking confidence or is it a case of not knowing what to do to get the back of the trailer where it needs to be?. I certainly struggled with the former when I got here.
-
Lack of confidence, that leads to a complete meltdown. I might need you to step in and give him some of your input. I'll buy you dinner if you'll help me out here.
