Good idea taking a pic of the macro and shop ticket. Will have to remember that one next time.

I dropped at a Target DC and while leaving with an empty, the yard jockey stopped me and told me one of our empties there had a damaged electrical connector. I went over and the connector was ripped out completely. I sent a trailer condition macro but not sure what will become of that. We had other empties there so it shouldn't be a case of another driver getting stuck babysitting it for Roadside repair. I would hope a repair truck would be sent out to it before that happened.

 

Bet your FM didn't realize there was a time zone change.

 

And I dropped it Saturday morning at 8:15 am. Gotta love our shop!

 

So you were snitched on for not having mudflaps? Guessing you got in trouble for taking it without mudflaps?

 

Not for picking it up with no mudflaps. I was 63 miles from the yard and from my experiences with the shop, I did not call breakdown ($$) or the shop because I knew I'd just be told to bring it to Richmond, which I was doing anyway. I was questioned because the shop did not do their job and TRIED to throw me under the bus about it. Since I had my part covered, it was a non issue for me. I just told my FM what happened and what I did when he asked me about it. I do wonder if the shop got "in trouble" for not doing their job? Yeah, right!

 

Does Abilene hire drivers with a semi-old CDL and no experience? I obtained my CDL back in 2013 but never used it ( got a good manufacturing job shortly after getting it ). Unemployed now and I saw where they were looking for drivers in my state ( Maryland ).

Would they pass on a 4 year old no experience CDL?

 

Don't imagine there's a whole lot of difference in their eyes between fresh CDL + no experience and older CDL + no experience. Either way, you're starting from scratch.

And I got hired with no experience, so...

 

Well, after working here almost a year (two weeks until my hire date anniversary), I could no longer dodge the bullet: I got a load to BH Brooklyn.

Anybody feel like dropping me a PM with pointers and advice, I'd appreciate it. I haven't had to go to Brooklyn since training, and that was a year ago. And I haven't done it by myself at all.

EDIT: Cancel red alert. FM told me on the phone that it was a BH Brooklyn load, but it's actually going to Bethpage. Which will probably still suck, but not as bad as Brooklyn.

 

Follow the customer info directions; stay in the middle lane after Atlantic Ave. Pretty sure they took down the "must exit" signs but if not not, disregard them. If the bullpen is already open, great. Pull straight in, hook left, driverside back into a spot. If not, I park on the sidewalk across from the mexican place.

 

Turns out, I was misinformed. FM told me on the phone that it was BH Brooklyn, but the actual load assignment is Oyster Bay, Bethpage, NY. So still probably a nightmare, but perhaps not as much of one.
