If Bethpage is the one I'm thinking of in a big warehousing complex there's plenty of space for nappin'.

The problem is that the load won't be ready until midnight. Which means that even if I were to leave Jarratt and drive straight through to Bethpage, I'll still be hitting rush hour NYC traffic when I get there.

My plan is to get that out of the way early and avoid the rush.

Bethpage is a breeze once you get past the GWB nonsense. Big parking lot with plenty of room to back up and you can sleep there if you want to make it a night run to minimize traffic.

My plan is to roll out of the yard at 11:00pm and head to Jarratt where, hopefully, my load will be ready on time when I get there. Then turn around and head New York-wards until I get too sleepy to drive. Then pull over for a nap. Then mosey the rest of the way there.

Hopefully that will allow me to avoid the worst of the traffic. Because if I just make a beeline to Bethpage from Jarratt without stopping, I'll be hitting NYC traffic right around 8:00am.

    Redtwin Thanks this.

I got my CDL in 95, last drove a Class B straight truck 14 years ago and I got hired last year. The test drive during orientation was the first time I had been behind the wheel of a Class A since driving school.

The only time I have been we left Jarrett much earlier so hit NYC at 5am ish. Make sure you have at least 2 load locks in case you have to pick up pickles after.

Hmm ok, thanks. I filled out an application for them a bit ago, probably going to give them a call in the morning and see if I'm eligible.

How long ago did you do the application?. If it's been more than a week or two, I would submit the application again and call within 2 or 3 days. No harm in calling in the morning either but they may not have saved the app.
