Well I got approved to go to Orientation on 8/16 in RIchmond, VA. I'm supposed to arrive the day before at noon time to do my drug test and DoT physical. Going in as a student driver, was told it'll be determined how long and what kind of training phase I'll be in when I do road test.
Do they do any kind of abilities test during the physical? Or do they do that in the actual orientation? Just asking because I'm a young guy ( 24 ) in average shape, but my blood pressure has been a little high lately, in the 140-150 range, probably because of what I've been eating. Wondering if they're real sticklers for slightly high BP.
Also, are all their trucks automatics? I didn't know they had autos until I read over the orientation stuff my recruiter sent me. -
Not sure about the physical part. But all trucks are auto's.Freightliners,Kenworth's,Macks, and Volvos.

I had a very basic agility test when I had my pre employment physical, but that was done at a Concentra near where I lived and I don't think they use Concentra any longer.
It was a very simple test, as long as you have full use of your extremities you will pass it easily. Your BP will be the bigger issue, but that's an FMCSA deal, nothing to do with Abilene or even who they use for physicals. Cut out salt, alcohol, cigarettes and caffeine and you may get in the normal range in time for the physical. May also want to check with your doctor if you have time to see you will need meds.Jay74482 Thanks this. -
Always totally relax, almost like a nap, just make your arm as limp as possible.

Ok thanks, the automatic trans makes me feel a bit more relaxed about the road test part. As for my BP, I'm going to cut back on salt, I don't smoke, eat some foods like bananas, baked potatoes, etc since I see they're good for bringing down BP. Also will walk 2-3 miles a day, I'm unemployed at the moment so I have plenty of time to do that part.
Do you do any backing during the road test? Heard backing with a auto takes some time getting use to. -
Lonesome Thanks this.

Yes you will back, real easy stuff,Bill tested me,real laid back guy.
Don't stress you'd have to make a catastrophic mistake to fail.
