My condolences John. Sorry for your loss. One of the hardest things ever. I own cats and miss my previous ones every day.

Well, the super caffeinated coffee from the TA truck stop did indeed work its magic. I did not get sleepy at all while driving yesterday. Not only that, I set another personal best with 754 miles passing beneath my wheels. I actually drove past the Little America truck stop and spent the night at the Pilot just west of Flagstaff. Rolled in with 8 minutes left on my clock.
I do not normally drive out my full clock, mainly because I mostly do short runs. Not much point to trying to maximize your 11 when you spend a good chunk of your day in traffic, or stopped at stop lights, and you're just going to end your day at a truck-stop with no load assignment anyways and 2 hours left on your drive clock. But these nice long cross-country runs? Yeah I'm happy to put the hammer down and see how far I can go.
NyQuil has the same drowsy inducing ingredient as Benadryl, and that particular ingredient is hit-or-miss for me, mostly miss. Nine times out of 10, it does not have any effect on me whatsoever.Last edited: Sep 6, 2017

4 miles short of my PB!

I love the west coast runs, even it means having to enter CA. I keep hoping their secession movement builds steam, maybe we won't have to run there any longer.

I confess that today I have been having fantasies about a nationwide truckers strike, in which no trucking company, nor any independent truckers, drive in California until the state raises the speed limit for 18-wheelers to match the speed limit for cars.
Obviously won't happen, but a man can dream. -
OR is another slow-me state, but at least they have nicer highway scenery to look at.
