Everything about this thread and Abilene sounds fantastic, but the one thing I can't get over is the fact they don't or rarely preplan you. Every company I've ever worked for Preplans almost all the time. It just makes sense. ah well.

RC, mommy6 is referring to when I drove for Arnold, They would pp me a load, a relly good one like Jackson Miss to Denver then take me off it. I got in the habit then, and still do even here of calling 30 minutes before I arrive and reminding them I need a load. It works for me. Guess we'll see how it goes in the future. First 2 months have been good
Lonesome, JohnBoy and RebelChick Thank this. -
I'm definitely going to start calling when I bump the dock or a little before. I would usually wait until I was unloaded and start sending messages, but not anymore.

TM, get your DM's email. Usually first initial and last name@ abilenemotor.com. Try email. That made the worlds difference with mine and Johnboys DM. Ive been in their shoes and the phone never stops between customers and drivers good and bad. My DM usually replies within a couple minutes whether work related or telling me to do something impossible to myself. You should have Tim right? Try it and it will be like day and night the difference. And it sits in his inbox as a reminder and not forgotten when the next call is a fire to put out.

I finally got my dead head move at 7pm last night. As it would happen I didn't have enough time to make it back to Richmond. I made it to the rest area by Jessup and called it a night. Traffic was horrible and I was exhausted. I was woke up at 7:30 this morning from Tim calling me on my phone. They needed a new driver picked up in Seafod Delaware and brought to the yard for tomorrow's orientation. I said sure no problem. I got my new deadhead move to show the miles, from jersey to seaford to richmond was a total of 565 deadhead miles. Got him at 11:30 and was back here at 3:30. Now I'm waiting for my load home to be ready.

I've been pre-planned all week and it has been horrible. HP screwed up the first load for the week so it set me back. Did some creative driving and logging and made it on time for the second load. They took forever to unload so I couldn't make the third load pickup. Dru called me to update me on their latest ship time. I called him back just as they were finishing and told him no way. Told him if there weren't any loads nearby or no one to get it to leave me on it and I'll pick it up in the morning but to change the delivery time or I'll drop it at the yard. (I make it a point to offer a solution if I'm gonna give a problem). I have to be home Fri for an appt so it sucks to do that which gives me low miles but it is what it is.
