After playing in the cold and snow up 95 and into Cleveland the last 3 days, I’m now headed to Denver, SLC, Las Vegas and San Jose. A nice 3900 mile run with 5 extra stop offs.

Thats exactly the way I do it, and how it should be done. Its the drivers responsibility who actually got it loaded to make sure its legal for the other driver whos picking it up after him. Especially gross weights thats just a straight dick move to not get it re worked.runningman0661, JohnBoy, Redtwin and 1 other person Thank this.

You should need the BOL of course, a certificate of origin, and the commercial invoice showing what the consignee paid for the product.
That’s how it works for LTL shipments anyway. -
Fair enough if you genuinely don't know it's overgross, but the trailer in question had a cat scale ticket in the document box showing that it had been recently scaled by the driver that picked it up from the shipper.
Entirely possible the driver was out of hours to haul it the 20 miles back to Sandston. In which case pull the bills and the scale ticket and walk them into dispatch with a big note scrawled "NEEDS TO BE REWORKED" and leave it on the planners desk. That way the load isn't in the system waiting to pounce on an unsuspecting driver.Lonesome Thanks this. -
Again, way too much effort for the self absorbed douche of a steering wheel holder.runningman0661, JohnBoy and Redtwin Thank this.

The only place I know of in Sandston that may load over gross has an on-site scale. Other than that I don't know of any place near the yard that would come in over gross.
The load has to be really heavy to be over. I can pull 45k if it's loaded right and not a reefer.Redtwin Thanks this. -
I don't like posting the names of our regular customers but there is another place that we load in that area. They are very heavy reefer loads of margarine and other edible oils like Olive etc. I don't know if they have an onsite scale as I have never been there but the BOLs have a Sandston address.

So if a driver gets it reworked and the company pays him for his time, is it ok for the company to deduct that from the load pay?
-
More than likely, a local driver picked that up. And we all know how they are, most of them anyway. However, if load in question was overweight when they scaled it, then it most definitely should have gone back. Don't forget, sometimes dispatch says roll with it if they feel you won't cross a scale. I suppose we could debate until the cows come home, but it won't change the fact that it had to be dealt with by a road driver.

If a day cab driver picked that load up, is it possible he did scale it and the problem is arising from the weight difference between a day cab and a sleeper?
