Are we talking about the "law", or a company's personal preference?

Because the law (FMCSR 396.11) states ... "The driver must complete this inspection at the "end" of each work day. If a defect is found it must be reported and repaired prior to beginning the next trip or continuing on".

I'm just a simple minded guy but, that tells me it's a post-trip inspection not a pre-trip inspection. I do both because I don't give a rat's behind what anyone else thinks. I need to know what I'm driving is safe. But for the record, I only log my pre-trip LOL

I've been driving since 1989, as as far as I know, and what I've ALWAYS been taught is that a pre-trip must be logged (15 minute minimum on paper) and a post-trip could be flagged, but that both must be indicated in the remarks section.

I was with the rest of the fleet at a new build Publix in the GA sticks. At least 9 trucks all filled to the brim which meant getting unloaded took ages and removing all the nails they left behind took even longer.

Not cool when drivers start cutting the line to get unloaded. Those two trucks parked in front of you weren't there on hometime, pal.

When we all have the same appointment, it is understood by those of us who have a brain that it is FCFS. It is poor form to jump ahead of anyone. If there are 10 of us at the location, it's probably a new store and not open so they need all of them. Now, that being said, if they cannot accommodate a particular load, that driver is asked BY THE CONSTRUCTION FOLKS to move to the end of the line. To jump in front of folks who took the time to get there the night before is rude.

So, before but-ting in, maybe YOU should have the whole story.
