The cpm is low, but ya run lotsa miles. Near the end of my ne regional days i was avging 2400 to 2600 per week. As a team we are avging 10 to 12 per 2 weeks. So the miles make up for the low cpm.
The insurance here is crap, but thats most places these days.
Texas is a tough one. Ive talked to a couple drivers from there. one on the fodum from awhile back had issus getting home.
Id sugguest talking to recruiting. -

I place a high value on being treated like a grownup.
I don't have anybody looking over my shoulder, telling me where to fuel, what route to take, when I need to take my breaks, when I need to get back on the road, what color underwear to wear, etc.
I am told where to go and what time I need to be there. The rest (within reason) is up to me. When everything is running smoothly, I can go weeks without talking to my fleet manager.
They also get me home when I want to be home, but I consider that part of the "treating me like a grownup" package. -
How often does Abilene go out to nyc or the burrows is it forced
-
We have NE drivers who specialize in doing nothing but runs up to New Jersey, NYC, and points north and east of there. Generally speaking, they will be the ones doing the runs to NYC and there are enough of them that most OTR drivers most of the time won't need to go into NYC.
Sometimes, however, they've got more NE freight than they've got NE drivers, and OTR drivers get assigned those loads. I go to Jersey pretty regularly, for example, and I've been to Long Island a couple of times.
I have driven through NYC a few times, but I have thus far dodged the bullet of actually delivering to the city. Had a close call a few weeks back where they actually gave me a load assignment to Brooklyn, but took me off of it in favor of a Lumber Liquidator load to Mesquite, TX, that was more urgent.
Is it "forced"? Never quite sure what that means. If they give you a load assignment, you're expected to run it. But apparently we have drivers who refuse loads and they still have a job, so.
Me, I go where they tell me to go.Finfn1372, Redtwin and Crusader66 Thank this. -
I don’t mind it but when I’m delivering in there I get stuck in the NE region if I go in there I expect to atleast get something to Utah or something good since I delivered for the company Down there

Where are Abilene’s terminals located?
-
Richmond VA, Wytheville VA and West Memphis AR. Only Richmond should really be considered a terminal. The other places are more of a drop yard with offices and W. Memphis also has a shop.JohnBoy Thanks this.
