As an OTR driver you should accept that you may have to go. One of our main customers has a huge facility in Brooklyn. We have lots of loads going there. NE miles pays 10 cents extra per mile and there is a $50 add-on for NYC deliveries or pickups, so there is a little sweetener for going there.

I’m looking at driving for them I have over 7 years exp record is good I live outside of Fort Wayne Indiana do they hire out of Indiana
-
Another thing is that Abilene isn't afraid to deadhead drivers to get loads whereas other companies would just have a driver sit until a load came available. I have been deadheaded from Ft Lauderdale FL to Forrest City AR to get a load. That's well over 800 empty miles. I have heard of other companies that won't allow deadhead of more than 100.Kwan23, ExtremeUnction and JohnBoy Thank this. -
I don’t mind going in there but I expect good miles in return which is fair last time I had stops in queens,Bronx and Jamaica got a load from outside of nyc to Salt Lake City

JohnBoy Thanks this.

As far as pay, run everything they give you and you should be able to take home $2K every two weeks that you stay out. In my first full 12 months I grossed $57K and I did $62K in 2017. I stay out 2-3 months at a time.

Hell, even if the money comes from detention and NYC/Canada drop pay I'm still good. The only reason I do this is for money, not to see the sights or anything else.JohnBoy and ExtremeUnction Thank this. -
Like I said I hate nyc but I can do it Hope I can get out west a couple times a year I have my family in California and Nevada and Texas

When get sent Down to the city I always get there pizza or calzones
Some of the places I’ve eaten at Down there are some of the best food I’ve ever eaten -
One can ask for time off anywhere in the US as well. I was able to spend a few days with family and go to my niece's graduation in So. Cal.
I have done several 34 hr resets out there with my family as well, and getting me home to FL is not an issue.Kwan23 Thanks this.
