Not going the way he is.

I got a note with a high value load assignment yesterday that warned me not to stop at the truck stop in Ruther Glen with the high value load. Near as I can tell, though, there are four truck stops that could reasonably be considered "the truck stop in Ruther Glen", namely all those truck stops off of Exit 104: The two PFJs, the Loves, and the Mr. Fuel.
So which one of those am I not supposed to stop at?
I'm wondering if maybe they don't mean that sketchy, always empty truck stop off of Exit 98 in Doswell. I don't understand how that place is still running, because I have never seen another truck or trucker there no matter what time of day or night I have stopped. And yet it stays open 24/7. So I assume it's a money-laundering operation for some criminal outfit.Redtwin Thanks this. -
Redtwin Thanks this.

Yeah, the 200 mile radius prohibition pretty much covers all those. Definitely don't want to stop for anything you may need to leave the truck for. Certainly not for a shower as was rumored to be the case with that load.

From what I heard the trailer was recovered a couple days later with the load intact. I guess they dropped it somewhere to let it cool off before unloading it and it was found in that time.MACK E-6, Bumper and ExtremeUnction Thank this. -
Had a driver leave Sandston, stopped at the J in Ruther Glen, went inside to shower and came out to an empty parking spot, in broad daylight. Found the truck and trailer minus 4 pallets of product in the hood in Fredericksburg 2 days later. This was 2 years ago. Rumor has it as an inside job. Oh, said driver got canned immediately.

You know the rumor mill. The stories i heard varied slightly.
I'm not surprised it was an inside job. I doubt they do much background checks on those minimum wage "security" guards or even warehouse employees. Easy enough for one of them to call up their buddies with the trailer number, destination and what exactly is loaded on it.
Some of that "high value" load is cheap plastic stuff that wouldn't fetch more than $10 or 20 per item on the black market. No doubt one of those loads wouldnt be as appealing.JohnBoy Thanks this.
