What's that I heard about Abilene hauling anything anywhere as long as you paid them?.

Picked up these babies in deepest darkest Iowa farm country.

Large tractor engine. It was strapped to the pallet also, but if the pallet broke I doubt the straps I added would have kept it upright. Would probably just rip the tracks out of the trailer wall.

Had to drive down 3 miles of dirt road to grab this beauty. The front tires were flat and the steering was seized so it would veer off to the left when we were pushing it in. Had to stop every 5-10ft, jack up the front wheels off the floor and push the front end straight again. Hardest I have worked in a long time. It was a 40 degree morning and I was drenched in sweat.

This is how it made it into the back of the trailer. 20180328_093540.jpg

I was hoping buddy could just extend the boom and push it straight in, but it was already at max weight. Extending the boom just lifted the rear tires of the loader off the ground. Had to get in there and get dirty. No way he was going to handle it himself. He was about 70 and sounded like he was already ravaged by COPD or similar.

That strap I put on the back of the tractor was just to look good for the picture. No way that was going to stop Ol' Bessie if she decided to make a break for it.

Apparently Abilene thought of that as my next stop was a floor load of a bunch of foam padding rolls.

I'm sure they would have protected Bessie from any damage if she decided to go dancing in the trailer.

I'm pretty sure this trip qualifies as Flatbed *and* LTL experience what with all the load securement and multi pickups.

That was my thought also. I dropped them at the yard, but they had seperate reference names as the consignee so who knows. The engine was pretty new as it had ECU etc still attached and the tractor doesn't look museum old enough.

I left the house last Wednesday and when I get empty in Riverside this Wednesday I’ll have 4200 miles in for the week. I want more but I’ll need a reset when I get empty.

I can vouch for that, dash gauge says 111 in the sun. Just made it to the left turn lane into the Colton yard with one minute left on my drive time. Got a 4am date over at C&C/Lineage. Maybe it'll cool down by then.
