This is what I've been told:

-They're not going to turn our trucks down. We're still going to run at 71/72 on the cruise and 69 on the pedal.

-They are not going to begin micromanaging our trips. Load assignments will continue to tell us where we need to be and when we need to be there and the rest will (within reason) be left up to us.

-Load planners and dispatch will continue to operate as they always have, without any corporate meddling from upstairs. 3000 miles per week will still be the average for most drivers who want those miles and are willing to put in the time.

-Abilene will continue to buy the same trucks it has always bought, which means we'll be flying Volvos and KWs in addition to the Freightshakers. The word I hear on the street is that next batch of new tractors will be all Volvo.

-We will almost certainly be getting better insurance benefits next year, not that it will be difficult because our current insurance sucks.

-We will probably start seeing incentives for MPG and idle time and things like that.

-We have already had our pool of potential fueling options expanded. We can now fuel up at Petro/TA truck stops, whereas before it was just Pilot/Flying J unless you were RebelChick.

Basically, I was told that, in terms of what I as the driver see and experience from inside the cab, very little will change. And what changes do occur will be positive.

Granted that it's only been a month or so, but yeah, it still feels like the old Abilene.

Did Knight buy Abilene in it's entirety or a percentage?

Ditto....Just let me add this. All the doom and gloom we hear is from drivers that don’t work here, got fired, or are outsiders that know everything. Here's what I’ve seen in the last 4 weeks since we were bought. My truck is still green, still does 72, my hometime has not been affected, I’m still on track to make 80k like I have the last few years, and most importantly, my paycheck and mileage bonus is in the checking account every other week like it’s been the last 5 years. Oh, and I just got my longevity raise 2 weeks ago.

Not just me, grasshopper. Quite a few of us folks fuel exclusively at Loves.

Your truck does 72? Hmmmm...mine says it does, but practically every other Abilene truck leaves me in the dust! But, they won't calibrate the speed-o-meter so I just deal with it.

Actually, since they put 10 new tires on, it’s 74. But who’s counting.

(I kid, of course. I occasionally fuel up at Love's whenever my need for a shower coincides with a break at Love's. Heck, I fueled up at Petro/TA a couple times last year for the same reason.)

My front right bumper-panel corner got loose,so naturally i put some black duct tape over it(temporary),to prevented from falling off,i was in the shop getting coolant,as i go out i see Bill circling my truck like a shark all red and pissed,and than he goes off-what did u hit,we dont do this staff here we fix staff,this is the ugliest thing ive ever seen,what did u run over,I got 650k on my truck everything is getting loose.If i wont to lie,i could say it was a deer,or a blown tire,but it was loose when i got it,i missed to noticed it and it just got worse.I got the feeling that the driver will get the blame here,regardless.
