What rule is this? I just got back from hometime and messages sent to my Qualcomm while it's off and I'm away from the truck never show up once I am back. They simply vanish Into the ether.

Not sure what you mean. I know safety has been cracking down on drivers using PC. They will write you up if you use it when you have a trailer, even if not under a load. DOT doesnt specify that you have to be bobtail, but Abilene does. They dont allow driving while logged out at all now, even if bobtail.

Only messages you missed were that we can now fuel at Petro Atlanta, a reminder that the 16hr exemption is off limit for OTR drivers, oh and another MIA trailer. If there was one about PC, I didn't get it.

Its a company owned, registered and insured vehicle and you are authorized to drive it even if not doing actual company duties. I imagine things would be very different if you were driving it while not employed, say they told you that you were fired and to park it, but you kept driving anyway.

Remember the last experience that we talk about; We are not talking about the 0.45 personal use This is a new rule by the "FMCSA".

I lost the document but in a short version.. "The movement from a shipper or receiver to the nearest safe resting are may be identified as "Personal Conveyance" according to a notice from FMCSA regardless of whether the driver exhausted his or her hours of service, as long as the CMV is being moved solely to enable the driver to obtain the required rest at a safe location" (There is more to this rule... but it has not being printed yet on the books). That's why I repeat! I want to be sure what Abilene Safety Department says about this and not assume my own interpretation on how this new rule works and is it really official?

According to safety you can use your pc to find parking at the nearest safe haven,if a shipper or receiver wont allow you to park, doesnt matter how many hours after your 14 up.

What abilene been doing this week is sending me load assignments with no time on my clock, and expecting me to use pc time.

No time to get there and deliver? Or just no time to move once loaded/unloaded?

If it's the first one, load acceptance macro, a phone call to FM, and if they still have no clue, roll on with it not using PC. If it's late, it's on them. They cannot legally tell you to use your PC for anything other than what the rules say it's for. To tell you otherwise is a safety issue. Believe me, if something were to happen while you were using PC incorrectly they would hang you out to dry in a NY minute.

If it's the second one, use it ONLY to get to the first parking area you come to. PERIOD. See above hang you out to dry comment. And it isn't just our company that would do that, so let's not go the she's so rude route (I got a phone call about how I was rude to someone when I refused to go back west after our Cookeville debacle).

6CE28607-4F1F-4832-A202-D88F94DB2E22.jpeg Ok, Barney Fife here. Got to the bottom of the empty TP dispensers. The company isn’t in a hurry to restock because they’ve found some drivers stealing the rolls for personal use in their truck. Hence this look.

Bumper, Vic Firth, Lonesome and 2 others Thank this.
