So stupid question.... my last KW only had the first 2 switches for lights. It was also a 15. This one has 3? Do I need to use all 3 for all the lights? I don't understand what the 3rd is for.

Yes you can laugh at me 20180713_201802.jpg

I believe that 3rd light could be your back baseboard light, the light you cut on when hooking up airlines at night.

    From what I remember.

Switch 1. Park lights on Tractor only.
    Switch 2. Headlights on Tractor.
Switch 3. Park lights on trailer.
Switch 4. Turns on the tanning bed UV lights

I always just flicked on all 3. Trainer told me not to do that if we were bobtail, but couldn't offer an explanation as to why.

There needs to be a switch to turn off the career of the numpty at Kenworth who thought that using 3 switches to do the job of 1 was a good idea.

Is the Richmond shop open on Saturday? It's been so long, I can't even remember.

    So close.

First switch is park/headlamps. Second is tractor marker/clearance lights. Third trailer clearance lights. Bonus: the little button on the end of turn signal acts as an interrupt of the latter two circuits. Tanning circuit is optional.

When you throw the switch, that circuit is "hot" and waiting for a ground. I guess maybe if the pigtail holder were full of water it could short (since it also contains the trailer ground and return leads,) but most seem to have drain holes in them and a dollop of dialectric grease eliminates that worry.

It seems only Kenworth thinks that could be an issue. All the other trucks have one switch for everything.

I have a kw and the lights to connect air lines ect, is located on your left; right on top of your key switch. I had a teacher that always said.." The only stupid question is the one you don't ask" so keep on asking that's what we are here to help each other out.

Everybody says that there's no such thing as a stupid question. But I am here to tell you from personal experience that, based on the reactions I have received to many of the questions I have asked over the course of my life, most people don't actually believe that saying is true. :D
