Abilene Motor Express....A New Place To Call Home

I'm going with it being a top secret government load that would result in me being executed if I ever found out what I was hauling.

That was the story I had prepared if DOT stopped me and wanted to know why i was going in the opposite direction of the address on the BOL.

 

I have done the opposite. I was taking a Reno load to Elkridge but I didn't get very far with it. They called me after catching the mistake and a took the next exit and went back to Wytheville.

 

Been there, done that.

 

It's good to know about this experience you had. If it happens to me I will know not to worried.
Yesterday I made a delivery to "Unarco" in Danville, VA.... Went to my near by truck stop and said to myself " I will pick a parking spot that I can get in and out easy when my 10 hour DOT break is over. In the middle of the night I herd a noises and woke up and looked and found this going on right in front of my exit!

 

The Great Shopping Cart Graveyard. It's kind of surreal. Haven't been there in a good long while.

PFJ truck stop located very conveniently less than a mile away, though.

 

If you ever get a deadhead to Wytheville from there dont take the route Google maps suggests no matter how much the 50 mile savings may tempted you.

 

The shipper was listed correctly on the BOL and it was going to one of our regular customers that has received freight from that shipper in the past so I don't know why this particular load was so secret.

 

I can see why drivers keep a stockpile of straps. I had 2 in a loaded trailer I dropped. Asked the shop for 2 replacements and was told to check at guardshack. The guys there say check at the shop...so now I'm without any, I guess next time I go by wytheville I'll put 10 in my sidebox.

 

They're on the crossdock. Might have to get it unlocked.
