I kinda suspect that the people most likely to do that aren't reading this thread.

Given the Boar's Head reefer I saw over at Hewlett-Packard Sandston the other day, I suspect that the people most likely to do that actually can't read this thread because they lack the intelligence. Talk about a real "not my job" moment.

 

BTW, whenever I have to get a Gatorade load reworked because it is overweight, I put in for detention. Sometimes I get it, sometimes I don't, but it never hurts to try.

 

When I worked there I took empty reefers there. I tried once not to take it there but dispatch wouldn't hear it.

 

I didn't say it was. I just asked a favor because the driver who dropped it has been here a couple of years. Maybe I should have said "reminder." Just makes it hard on the next person for no reason. And yes detention will be paid after 2 hours, but when you get reworked in an hour 45....doesn't help. Especially if your clock is already running. People are just lazy and dont pay attention, only worry about themselves. That's an hour and 45mins wasted on me for having to do someone else's job.

 

I wasn't disagreeing with you, man. I was remarking on the intelligence and lack of professionalism of anyone who would take an empty Boar's Head reefer to Hewlett Packard in Sandston just because their load assignment told them to take an empty trailer to Hewlett-Packard. If the only trailers I have available to take to Hewlett-Packard are empty reefers, I'm just going to bobtail over.

As for detention and the two-hour limit, as far as I'm concerned that two hours was up long before I got there when it comes to Gatorade. Detention pay exists as a way of compensating me for a shipper or a receiver wasting my time. And having to get a load reworked is a textbook definition of a shipper wasting my time. If it takes them an hour and 45 minutes to rework my load, I will put in for an hour and 45 minutes of detention. I may not get it, but I'm still going to put in for it.

There is literally no downside to trying. So why not try?

And I do try not to drop reefers in any of the Gatorade places, but when dispatch tells you to, you do. In my case, I do try to argue the point, but they know best. Haven't y'all figured out yet that were just dumb old truck drivers who would be lost without dispatch telling us what to do?
