I got a weather alert today driving through South Carolina telling everybody to brace themselves for the hurricane. Other than that, haven't heard anything.

Weather channels saying it's gonna hit the east coast about Friday, with 70 mph winds.
Redtwin Thanks this. -
Landfall as a Cat 4 anywhere between Savannah and Virginia Beach. They are predicting Cat 4 five days out... they don’t normally predict them so big with so many days to go... so they think something is going to pump it up.
Redtwin Thanks this. -
Or they are pumping up their ratings. Nothing guarantees eyeballs like a disaster.

And it's also tracking just like Isabel did back in 2003. And we lost power for 14 days and had lots of damage with that one. So, I'm a little concerned.
Redtwin Thanks this. -
Lonesome, 4mer trucker and Redtwin Thank this.

Im not saying dont be prepared, but the tv weather people constantly showing the same satellite images 24hrs a day does nothing to help anyone prepare.
Then when the storm hits you get the numpties out there in their network logoed ponchos standing in front of a wobbling street sign commenting on how windy and wet it is and that no-one should be outside.
Wind AND rain?, during a hurricane?. Sure glad you guys were out there with a camera to capture this phenomenon for posterity.Lonesome, RebelChick, MidWest_MacDaddy and 1 other person Thank this. -
I’m trying to figure out when I should come out of the house. I’m scheduled for Wednesday, which would have me going north on 95 thru the Carolinas on Thursday. If I ask victor for a Savannah to West Jefferson, then I’ll miss the worst part. Or just wait until Thursday and hope there’s still an I-95. I’m glad i live in South Florida, we’ve only had 1 hurricane make landfall in the last 13 years, you folks up north have had 6.
4mer trucker and Redtwin Thank this. -
95 is going to be a mess either day just from traffic of those leaving the coastal areas. I would stay put until it makes landfall then see if the Savannah/W. Jeff route is clear.
4mer trucker Thanks this.
