Abilene Motor Express....A New Place To Call Home

Today I spoke with an Abilene driver that has years driving for Abilene; and he told me that all Abilene dispatchers got switch around! (You probably don't have the same DM any more and you just don't know it)
Have any you all experience this? I think this happen about a week ago.

 

News to me. I spoke with my DM two days ago, same DM I've had since I started, and he didn't mention anything about it.

 

I'm here picking up a load in Nashville, GA. Broker load, natch. My load assignment gives me a range of pick-up times, from 8:30am yesterday morning to 4:30pm today.

Those of you who have done this dance before know what that means: The place probably shuts down at 4:30pm.

I got the load assignment at 4:30pm yesterday.

I called the place and verified that, yep, they all go home at 5:00 and won't load or unload after 4:00. But because it's 10hr 30min from here to the yard, and because I have hometime starting Friday, I rolled down this direction and spent the night at the closest truck stop, 20 minutes away.

Got here this morning at 9:30am.

At 10:30am, after an hour sitting on their lot waiting for them to come tell me where they want me to go, I got a call from their S&R manager wondering if I was going to be able to make it today to pick up their freight.

I'm in home time right now. But when I get ready to come out, I will call my new DM and ask the direct question.

I just talked to my DM and he is still my DM. So while I don't know how many drivers are affected, it clearly does not include everyone.

It's not because of that. It's happened before to some people. Not to me, though, because I'm such a joy to work with that my DM won't let me go. LOL
