Abilene Motor Express....A New Place To Call Home

NJ turnpike to 278 over the Verrazzano and Goethals bridges. Ignore the signs saying to exit at Atlantic; left or center lane like the rest of the trucks. Keep on 278 Brooklyn-Queens Expressway to exit 30, Flushing Ave. It's on the corner of Flushing and Bogart. From here different drivers do different things, I understand, to get to the bullpen parking on Bogart. I personally take Morgan then left on Thames, puts the bullpen entry directly ahead but folks like to park too close to the corners making that left pretty hairy if not impossible. Probably someone here has a better way than me.

Also, may God have mercy on your soul.

They gave us a load that was already late. ASAP is what they wanted.

 

That just gave me flashbacks and shivers!!!

 

Ive been enough times to not panic now. The lack of sleep on your 10hr "break" was the part I never got used to.

 

If you walk out of the bullpen and turn left, there is a guy selling Gyros out of a cart. The Lamb ones are really good. Ask for hot sauce if you like a little spice.

 

Also, check out Roberta's on the street behind the bullpen. It doesn't look like much from the outside, but from what I hear, the pizza is really good. The place gets 4.5 out of 5 stars on Google reviews. I never ate there (which to this day I regret) because the place looks like a run down garage.

 

Across from that there is an Oriental strore where they sale some delicious sub! I'm getting hungry! LoL!
