Still here at the WalMart. The repair guy showed up in a heavy tow truck. I thought it was the WalMart Parking Police come to tow me out, but no, he's just using the lift arm to raise the truck so he can work on it.
Am out of hours and have already been told by the WalMart manager that they don't care and that I can't park here overnight, so I get to head back out on the road with an HOS violation in order to find a real parking spot for the night. If I'm not actually parked by midnight, I won't be able to make my delivery tomorrow at all, much less on time, because they'll close before I can get there.MidWest_MacDaddy and Redtwin Thank this. -
Hated the local job. Worked for Ezzell, a year. Nice folks, but 12-14 hour days PLUS an 84 mile roundtrip commute for 45k a year. Glad to be back OTR. Much better lifestyle for me! I feel like I have ME TIME again!!

Finfan, if you like night driving, you might check out Perdue. They have a plant in Lewiston-Woodville. Basically going to the same places Wegmans in Pottstown PA, Americold cold storage in Leesport PA, Woodfern in Keasby NJ and Newark NJ, Rocky Point CT (Burris Refrigerated) also Orlando. Also inter company chicken plant runs. My deal was I couldn't sleep well during the days to keep running nights. You should get home a few times a week too. You shouldn't have any problem grossing.$1500/week. That's for about 2000 miles/week. And you could do 2500/week. My highest was 2900 miles one week. Average trips are 400 miles per trip. Good luck! More drop/ hook than live load unload.

For all my complaints, pay wasn't one them. Not saying I couldnt make more with a different OTR company, but all things considered (equipment, freight etc) I was quite happy with the money I made at at Abilene for the work I actually did.
The loads were steady enough and having learned how to run my clock to tie in with how Abilene operated, I pretty much knew how much I would be making each check.
Im certainly missing the money now that I'm only taking home half what I used to.MidWest_MacDaddy, RebelChick, Silverdriver and 1 other person Thank this.
