Then please feel free to go do your job... elsewhere... go represent the Carriers Interests and ignore our friendly little corner of the web.

Stay Safe... but do so elsewhere.

Here’s an idea, instead of trying to get everybody to clean up their language how about make the job more desirable, you know of the pay and benefits (or lack of) issues “free time “ spent at shippers and receiving, maintenance issues etc, work on getting that fixed instead of being the language police.

    5speed Thanks this.

Dont say ### end view. You dont want to imply you assumed the gender specific part of a truck. It may offend said women reading this thread and never speaking up. Trust me, I'm a media consultant. We're all on the same team here.

On a more serious note, I know of a few company “big wigs” and a few “pee on’s” that frequent our world here. And yes, they do use this thread in order to get a feel of what’s going on out on the road with us. I started this thread 6 years ago for the sole purpose giving people a little insight of my world. It was a carry over of my last company, Calex, that I worked for for 4 years.

If anyone knows anything about me it’s this, after 40 years of OTR, this profession has gone down the pooper. I have come to despise every part of this industry, from training, to shippers and receivers, the motoring public, operations, selfish no caring all about me drivers, and anything else involved with this. Let’s just say I’m slightly jaded about trucking. But I will say this, I do like my job. It’s been proven to me over and over again that the attitude of, “how hard can this be”, “anyone can do that” is quite the opposite. Not everyone can do this, and at times it’s pretty darn difficult, as I can attest to with the bad weather I was in the last 2 weeks.

Don’t get me wrong, this profession has been very good to me the last 40 years. But here’s one very important thing I constantly say to anyone I speak with, if I knew 15 years ago that this industry would turn out to what it has, I would have bailed out at that time.

Abilene is a very good fit for me, I’m done in 3 years, if it stays the same I’ll finish here. It’s not Abilene the company that I despise, it’s trucking in general. I can retire today if I wanted to. My wife and I set up for our retirement 25 years ago, achieved our goals and have a pretty good life outside of this. I choose to work because I’m a healthy 62 year old, can still work, and like I said, enjoy my job. But this industry as a whole? Garbage.

Now, being one that could care less about being politically correct, carry on with the verbage associated with getting ones manhood caught in a zipper. Even my wife Lesli thought that was funny.

Speak for yourself. “Non CDL Executives” don’t get to decide what we allow on our site.
