Just curious... what company is switching back from autos to manuals???

 

If anybody cares, I asked dispatch about it. They said the dude was towing a couple of tractors out of the yard, like those "daisy chain" truck transports you see on the road. Except that the trucks being towed were facing backwards (steer tires on the road) instead of forwards (drive tires on the road). And the driver forgot to lock the wheels.

So as he was leaving, the steer tires on the rear truck started turning and the rear truck started to fishtail and caught the guard shack on the way out.

Or so claims Phillip in dispatch.

 

What the heck was he driving that couldn’t fit down either side??? And I guess he figured it out just a tad late too.

 

They just bought like 200 trucks with automatic transmissions from two different manufacturers. If they're switching to manual, it's not happening this year.

Oh well... plenty of other companies with autos.

 

I think the four seat cushion “mattress” in the Volvo are comfortable but ya, always a sheet or blanket between me and thee.

I agree about the gps in the trucks... it’s the “CoPilot” program which is the same mapping company that does the routing behind the glass, so it’s not bad... I think the gps radios within the QCs are not the best at telling the program “where” the truck is... and not the fastest processor in the QC either.

I bought the App version for my iPhone/iPad... much better than on the QC... I had a few issues with it in the beginning and now they have abandoned the version that I paid $150 for and going with a “subscription model” which sucks.

I have a RM 730 unit that I’m looking to sell to upgrade to another unit if you are interested. It’s worked great for me... other than me wanting newer tech, I would use it until it died.
