    Yeah, if the curtains are closed, you shouldn’t knock. Unless you’re there for a swap.

    Back in my heavy haul days I blew my turbo on my Big Cam down on US-58 in VA a little bit east of Danville, Mecklenburg county I think it was. In the couple hours I sat there several local dump truckers stopped to ask if I was ok.

    So did you two Abilene Drivers end up arm wrestling over the 8:30pm Load??? :)

    Hey ... Hey ... Hey... let’s clean it up a bit Mister... we have innocent ones amongst us as well as Non CDL Executives reading this thread... I don’t want you to get fired from Abilene for such talk or get reported to TTR Security... remember, we’re all in this together!

    What? You don’t work for Abilene? And you ARE Security? Oh... well... I guess... never mind.

    I guess I’m in the middle of the chatty issue... first, yes, here I’m pretty chatty... but depends on who is talking to me or what/how they are saying it if I’m overly chatty on the Yard or Lounge, or Patio... I think I’ve had exactly one good conversation with someone on the Yard other than with the fine folks from this awesome thread... I don’t even remember his name.... was married and wife either drove or rode with him... and he smoked a good cigar... even offered one to me...

    But other than that, I avoid the Yards and the Patio like the plague ... my first time round, I would get stuck on the RVA Yard every time I stop there longer than to take care of business.... and heard way to much complaining about this or that... did me no good to sit there and hear that stuff.

    But if someone strikes up a one sided convo, I will politely humor them for a bit and listen to them talk... even if I have no idea about him and his brother Carl and blah blah blah... (I do enjoy some of the fond remembering from the more experienced among us as long as it’s not the moaning and groaning about “back in my day...” but actual stories or factual information)

    As to stopping... I think I’ve only seen one Driver on the side of the road... during training... my trainer tried to hale them on the CB but no response...

    I’ll wave at other Abilene Drivers... I do like the “same team” idea with a simple wave or the flash of lights... I never see them fast enough for the lights but I’ll wave.

    But wow... the Local Drivers don’t seem to ever wave at the OTR Trucks... lol

    Stay Safe

    Yeah, the local drivers are another animal all together. They are more clique-ish than the rest of the company. If you know who the boss is, you will get my meaning. 2nd generation guy who also has a 3rd generation person that works the window. Both of them riding on coattails of a really nice man, and not living up to his legacy. {Did I say that?? (In my best Steve Erkl voice.) Yes, yes I did.}

    Left out Saturday afternoon from the Richmond yard with an HP load going to Portland Oregon. Me and 8 others. I left with my new truck and my new trainee. The trainee is great, the truck? Going to need some time to get it on the same page as me.

    Great! I remember my first truck 2 year's ago. It use to break down every single month; and the pain of swapping trucks I didn't look forward to. I hope he gets a good truck.
