    So here was the plan...

    CT to NJ... drop trailer to new customer
    NJ to PA... pick up another empty
    PA to NJ... drop off 2nd empty at same
    (MUST be done before 9am!!! ... ok, will do)

    Started clocks... ran 3.5 hours to NJ...
    New customer is closed until 7am... lol
    So, per Dispatch, shutting down until AM
    well, 3.5 hours sure feels like a short day.

    Guess I’m done until 11am tomorrow... {shrug}

    Is it just me or is the RVA Yard seem to be getting tighter and tighter on the weekends? This is twice now that not only are there a lot of truck on the Yard but seems every trailer spot is packed full as well.

    Finfn1372 Thanks this.

    I was up at the Wytheville yard couple weeks back,and the empties were double stacked,never seen the yard that congested.

    Nope. Not just you. And yet they send us locals to pick up loads and drop them on the yard. Where? All these Hill loads they bring over from plant 1 should have stayed at plant 1, IMO. It’s horrid on the weekends. It’s gotten so bad that I don’t even like having to work them.

    The whole dang system has crumbled lately. Not sure what the heck, but I see it every time I walk into dispatch. There’s one guy-he was “promoted” recently. Then got “promoted” again. So now he’s helping the guy in his original job, training a guy for his 1st promotion, and training for his 2nd promotion. Did you get lost reading that? Imagine how it is in the office.
    Not to mention there are vacancies to be filled. At least 3 slots now have no one to fill them. And all the while drivers are left by the wayside-unless you are a favored child. The things I see and hear are-well, just wow.

    MidWest_MacDaddy and Finfn1372 Thank this.

    Add on top of that a Hiring Freeze.

    Guess they are focusing on getting everyone in house settled in, up & running, and stable before adding more people to the mix???

    I wonder if the hiring freeze applies to internal promotions as well as new hires.

    Home Time is a bit chaotic as well.

    While I AM trying to be flexible... I’ve had to be much more flexible since returning... wife takes a couple vacation days from her work just so she can be with me during home time... this weekend I was supposed to be in Savannah today for the “third largest parade in the US in celebration of my Birthday” (aka St Pats Day) but the quick CT and back run wasn’t so quick so now it’s noon on Saturday and I’m now walking to the window to see what they have that will get me South to maybe rescue one day of home time with my daughter... {shrug}

    one day which will include doing laundry... lol
    Home Time.... aka 34 hour reset with family... lol

    Silverdriver, gntorres61 and Lonesome Thank this.
