I have never been happier to NOT be a Werner Driver than I was today...
topped off my tanks at the Loves south of Groveport before picking up my Load heading to Jax... Werner Driver pulls up next to me and we #### chat a bit but she wasn’t very talkative ... so I went about my business... then she pulls out after a few minutes.... thinking to myself that I’m so glad Abilene doesn’t make us do that Splash n Dash crud...
I eventually finish and roll north... then I see a Werner Truck pulled over and a cop lit up behind... yup, it was her... ugh, that would suck... and I roll on...
Grab the BH Load and head back South...
this time the same truck/driver is still pulled over but this time in a center turn lane and a couple more cops in a Cop Truck are on site ... (DOT Boys???) ... and she has her side box open and pulling stuff out of it.
Maybe they moved her from the right shoulder to a turn lane to be on level ground for some reason... no clue here... but ya, her day sucked.

Tomorrow’s weather across Wyoming.
Vic Firth, MACK E-6 and Silverdriver Thank this. -
Delivered a BH load to Groveport yesterday. Misread the due date and delivered it 24 hours early. They took it anyways.
Was instructed to grab an empty from Genpak. They had a variety of empties there. The ones that weren't broke were inaccessible. No way I could successfully pull them out of their spot in a sleeper cab due to other trailers from other companies being right in the way.
The ones that were accessible were broke in varying degrees. The door nearly fell off of one of 'em when I opened it to ensure that it was empty. The one I finally retrieved was missing a mud flap, had a marker light out on the front at the top of the trailer, and has one tire shaped roughly like a stop sign.
Called breakdown to tell 'em about the one with the broken door. Told 'em I would not be on site because I had instructions to get an empty and motor down the road. Didn't know if they had procedures for that or not. They were very friendly and took down my info anyways and said they'd email their Abilene shop contacts to find out what to do next since I wasn't gonna be there.
Few hours later, I get a phone call. It's some guy from a repair service. They went ahead and sent him out. He was wondering where I was. I had to explain to him that I wasn't there, and that Volvo Action Service knew I wasn't gonna be there, so I'm not sure why they didn't pass that on to him. He was cool about it. Said there were four broken hinges on that door, and he was gonna call his dispatch to find out what they wanted to do about it since I wasn't there.
Haven't heard from him since. But it's nice to know that I can report bad trailers I'm not hauling and they'll maybe get repaired.
This morning while waiting in line at the TA to have them make me all nice and legal, I heard a squealing noise from the other side of the parking lot. Looked over and saw it was coming from a Werner truck. Another driver was trying unsuccessfully to get his attention. I turned around and headed for the street under the assumption that the driver was heading for the road. Got to the street just in time to literally flag the dude down by getting in front of him and waving my arms.
Explained that he had some bad squealing noise coming from the back of his trailer and that another driver had tried to flag him down as he was leaving. I didn't know what it was, but he probably wanted to check it out. He thanked me and pulled back in to the parking lot. As he turned in, I saw his left rear inner tire was locked up and smoking rubber.
So there's my good deed for the day.
Now waiting for the TA to address the issues on this trailer before hitting the road. Will be driving almost my full 11 today to get to the shipper and then back to HQ, and my late start means I'll be rolling in to the yard around midnight.MidWest_MacDaddy Thanks this. -
