I’ll have to dig a bit deeper... I have a WiFi model too but the only thing the weather does for me is color code my screen for the current temperature... guess I need to find the manual.

I have successfully managed to navigate the urban wilds of Brooklyn After Dark. They even saved me a parking spot in the bullpen. Now to try and catch a little shut-eye before delivery.

The load I was supposed to have going back to Jarratt doesn't exist. "We don't got nothing going out to Jarratt today." "You wanna check this number I got?" "Nah. Don't need it. We don't got nothin'."
Well THAT sounds like someone who just doesn't wanna do their job. A few hours later, after a few phone calls to dispatch, I got a phone call from Boars Head. They said they have paperwork for me. "You got a load?" "We have paperwork for you. Come get it."
So, curious, I wandered over to the shipping office and sure enough they have a BOL. It says I'm empty, there's no load, and there's no seal. And I had to sign it. They assured me that I would get paid if I took this paperwork back to Jarratt.
Uh-huh.
So now I'm waiting to see what HQ has to say about the matter.Lonesome and MidWest_MacDaddy Thank this. -
UPDATE: I have been instructed to, no joke, haul this empty trailer to Jarratt and give them the BOL saying that it's an empty load. Amazing.
Apparently the company is getting paid for it. And obviously I'm getting paid for it. And miles are miles. Still, kinda funny.
UPDATE 2: No, wait, they changed their minds. Now I'm going to Boars Head in Edison to pick up something there. Didn't even know there was a BH in Edison.MidWest_MacDaddy Thanks this. -
As I was prepping to leave Brooklyn, doing the pre-trip inspection and handling all the paperwork, I noticed a group of folks around my age, maybe a bit older, walking down the street and taking pictures. Including taking pictures of my truck.
In my experience, this is usually a sign of tourists from another country. And I am a firm believer in showing folks from other countries good ol' American friendliness and hospitality. So I motioned 'em over and asked if they wanted to take a look inside.
Sure enough, they were all from Paris, France. One of 'em was a French cop named Jacques. Another dude, the one who first started taking pictures of my truck, was a gentleman named Bernard. It was a mixed group, some women, some men. Bernard didn't speak much English, but the rest were varying degrees of fluent.
They took turns climbing into the truck and taking pictures and oo-ing and aah-ing over how much room I have in here compared to European trucks. Jacques explained to me in a mixture of 80% English and 20% French the difference between being a Police and being a Gendarme.
After they all had their turn checking out my microwave and my fridge and my bed, they asked if I would take a group photo of their whole group while they were standing in front of my truck. I gladly obliged.
Then they went and accosted some random Chinese guy who was unloading a truck into a shop across the street and asked him to take a picture of the whole group plus ME in front of my truck.
So hopefully I've given them a good memory for their trip and something interesting they can share with their friends.4mer trucker, popcorn169, Vic Firth and 7 others Thank this. -

I’m not sure just what the heck I’m hauling from Izod Women’s Division to a Costco DC but #### sure it didn’t require this level of security... lol
I must THANK a fellow Driver a few doors down for the use of his heavy duty bolt cutters or else this was not coming off. #KindnessOfStrangers
Lonesome, Silverdriver and Finfn1372 Thank this. -
Well we have a new DM "Darius" assisting Chris Nycum at West Memphis. His not as fast like Chris but I imagine hopefully that he will work out good. At some point in life we all need a little time to learn the ropes.
MidWest_MacDaddy Thanks this.
