After finishing the honey do list, I had zero strength to lift a beer.

Delivered to a paper mill out in the boonies of New Mexico on Friday. Got finished up around 4:00pm Richmond time. Called HQ, asked if they could find a way to get me to Albuquerque (only 1hr 30min away) so I could take a 34 and spend some time with my Dad. They said they'd see what they could do and they'd call me back. I trucked over to the TA in Grants for some Indian food and settled in.

Naturally, nobody called. Nor was a load assignment forthcoming.

So the next day I called dispatch and told 'em I was going to head to ABQ and take a 34 there and I'd call 'em back Monday to get a load. They said that was fine.

It was actually more than a 34, but that's okay with me. My choice to idle instead of drive so I could visit my Dad.

But that all ended this morning. Weekend is over, Monday has rolled around, I'm ready to go. Call up my DM and tell him I'm in ABQ and ready to roll.

    Couple hours go by.

I send a Qualcomm message reminding HQ of my existence.

Reply comes back "Check back in the morning. All the planners have gone home for the day."

So there's a day's worth of layover pay.
