Conversation at Circle K with Truck Parking:
Me: “hey, the second stall is like really close to being out of toilet paper, like two of the three spots don’t even have the cardboard tubes, the drain cover is completely missing, and one of the two hand dryers doesn’t work.”
Clerk: “oh... ok... this is not my store so...l..”
Me: “but you are the one behind this counter”
Clerk: “maybe they are out of toilet paper”
Me: {staring at clerk in disbelief}
Clerk: “maybe I could tell someone”
Me: “ya, that’s a good idea”
Me: {walking back to the Truck wondering if I should attempt to recruit her to be in the Abilene Training Program... seems qualified}

Ok, so I do my fair share of biotching here but today is the day I will pat Abilene on the back as I am reminded why some of the benefits here help to complement the CPM...
Long story short: today I find out that the blonde (soon to be ex) went to the ER yesterday and was admitted to the hospital... (she will be ok, thanks for asking) and beings that I am not a completely cold hearted SOB, I contact CN, inform him what happened, and request a load heading south.
Seems I was already assigned a Volvo load heading to Jacksonville (was still in the hotel and not yet back in my truck)... so I check out, head to the truck, and hustle over to Volvo to get this load and then will be home in the morning after a quick ten tonight.
While I was already on a load to Jacksonville... I know if I wasn’t, someone would be calling somebody to find me something going somewhere close to get my butt where it needs to be... and for that, I am reminded that being here at Abilene has a few non financial benefits compared to other companies out there that may pay better CPM, but could care less when the SHTF events in life happen.
Thank You Abilene.ChrisL, jarhead0311, Lonesome and 6 others Thank this. -
Question....
The truck winsheild wiper blades on my truck have been replaced and they work fine for about 1-2 months now they have gone bad again.
Is there some better wiper blades? Specially for the winter time dealing with snow, ice ECT?
Any recommendations.MidWest_MacDaddy Thanks this. -
I second you on that! This past 3 year's life has given me a couple of really bad curve's and when I spoke to Abilene they came forward to helping me out.jarhead0311, Lonesome and MidWest_MacDaddy Thank this.

Put winter blades on. Wiper blades will only last a month or so on a truck.jarhead0311 and Silverdriver Thank this.

Bosch Icons are the way to go. Not cheap but last set I had lasted a year. They certainly do better than the cheap metal frame blades in the winter as well. Keep your company issued blades under your bunk so in case you swap trucks you can take your blades with you (assuming you swap to same truck type)Silverdriver Thanks this.
