Why not? It’s 200 feet, not 20 miles Just put yourself in PC and creep. It really won’t register that you are moving. I do this when taking my 30 on the yard so I can move around where I need to go (because I want to get home quicker). Then just go back to off duty once you bump the dock.

Ok, just so I’m up to speed... this new “yard move” counts as On Duty but not as Driving... so we still get our full 11 each driving session but we will be hitting our 70 quicker.

When we pull up to the Guard Shack, go on YM right away so that it doesn’t trip Driving on the Yard? Is that the new standard?

Also, it seems that we need to tell them “why” we are doing a Yard Move (Load, Unload, etc) or else the “OK” button is not available. (Next thing they will want to know what brand of Toilet Paper we use)

anything else change on this new system?

    Communication: not Abilene’s strong suit

That's the the thing right there, communication, just like the pc going to 30 minutes,I don't remember getting a message about it.

If my dm didn't say something about it I wouldn't have known, you can't leave you're drivers in the dark.

My head doesn’t have any room left to overthink this. Just go on PC. Just remember to manually switch back to drive, sleeper or off duty. It doesn’t do it automatically. I have gone 2 hours on PC before realizing I forgot to switch over.

I want to share this experience in hopes that no one else will go through the same headache!
    Long story short...
A few days back I was told to swap loads with another driver... Qualcomm message also said...”Trailer has missing tag”.
I ask the driver about the missing tag and he said “Abilene safety dept. was notified and if I get stopped just let the officer know “ . (Really!)
After several days of picking up loads and making deliveries I was told to take the empty trailer and drop it at “Hewlett-Packard in San Bernardino, California today”.
I was told by the entrance checking personal that they were NOT going to accept my trailer because of the missing tag! AND also that because of the missing tag I would NOT be allowed to enter there property AND I would have to backup out of there property!
If you know this place you can imagine into what difficult position I was put into.
I told them.... “The only way this truck is backing out is if you go out and block the traffic! I’m not going to be getting into an accident! And so they did.
I’m going to be sending a Qualcomm message to Abilene and hopefully no other driver will have to go through this kind of situation!

In another note... It is good to be alive and enjoy life!
I’m going to share with you all a joke...
Sam was a truck driver and he feared that his wife, Judy, wasn’t listening as well as she used to, and he thought she might need a hearing aid. Not quite sure how to approach her, he called the family doctor to discuss the problem.

The doctor told him there was a simple, informal test the husband could perform to give the doctor a better idea about her hearing loss.

Here’s what you do,”said the doctor.” Stand about forty feet away from her, and in a normal conversational speaking tone, say something and see if she hears you. If not, go to thirty feet, then twenty feet, and so on until you get a response.”

That evening his wife was in the kitchen cooking dinner, and he was in the living room. He said to himself, “ I’m about forty feet away. Let’s see what happens.”Then in a normal tone, he asked, “Honey, what’s for dinner?” No response.

So Sam moved closer to the kitchen, about thirty feet from his wife, and repeated, “ Judy, what’s for dinner?” Still no response. Next , he moved into the dining room where he was twenty feet from his wife and asked, “Sweetie what’s for dinner?” Again he got no response.

So he walked up to the kitchen door, about ten feet away. “ Honey, what’s for dinner?” Again there was no response. So he walked right up behind her. Judy, what’s for dinner?”

For Pete’s sake, Sam, for the fifth time, chicken!”:D

Not sure what Abilene’s policy would be but.... put yourself to off duty/sleeper berth and log out of the system to make short moves ‍;)

That’s a negative, ghost rider. Then you’ll be questioned as to why you are logging out of the system.

Not sure if a Qualcomm message went out-I didn’t get one. The back half of the RVA yard is closed off. Looks like they’re maybe doing some repairs or paving. Don’t know when it started-wasn’t up here at all yesterday.

It just keeps getting so much better. <HEAVY SARCASM> Just had to sign a letter stating they are taking the local and shuttle drivers monthly bonuses. Why? Because freight just isn’t there right now. My question to dispatch? Are they cutting the OTR bonuses too? Because, it’s the same amount. Really kind of cheesed off right now about it.
