    Per the prior conversation...

Was just told “not to deny any future loads”... I said “I didn’t deny a load”... I did however simply expressed to my DM that I wasn’t going to download a Tracking App onto my personal phone... guess the Broker didn’t like that when DM talked about options.

    so I asked my DM...

“Is it now a requirement to download any and all tracking apps, from any and all brokers, on to our personal phones in order to drive for Abilene? If so, this is the very first that I’ve heard of that requirement. (No answer yet)

I said that I would be happy to provide additional occasional updates as needed via phone calls but, at this time, I have no plans to add tracking apps onto my personal phone. (I have too #### many companies tracking me as it is and I’m trying to thin them out as well... even Facebook is possibly on the chopping block as they actively collect all kinds of peoples data)

I know that Abilene can track our Trucks and I’m under the impression that some Brokers even have access to that tracking. Not sure why we are expected to add ever Brokers App when the truck itself is being tracked.

    your thoughts?

If Abilene wants me to use a specific app, they can buy me a phone.

If we have the automatic slack adjusters on trailers then doing the application thing like they told you should technically adjust them to where they need to but if that doesn't work you gotta crawl under the axles to do it manually by turning the nut on the brake canister all the way towards the wheel until it stops then back it off two quarter turns and that is how you manually adjust brakes on trailers and truck tandems. But Abilene prob don't allow us drivers to do stuff like that. I learned to do a few things myself as far as maintenance when I was an owner operator.

Not sure if they did add any spots, but yeah, there are some that are a bit tight. Others, not so much. You know the adage that you get what you pay for, right? Enough said.

So true. I do not put any tracking app on my personal phone. It’s bad enough that I have to use it for work purposes enough and don’t get reimbursed for it.

    Lonesome Thanks this.

Don’t deny any future loads? Hmmmm.......I know Abilene is forced dispatch, but that hasn’t been enforced ever. Yeah, not downloading a tracking app either. Nope. Pay for my phone and I will have it whistle Dixie if they want, but until then....

This recycling place is a nightmare to back into here in LA.....if not for the parked cars on the sides of this narrow street/alley way it would have been a little easier......they really oughta put no parking signs in front of the area where trucks gotta back in here. But with several spotters I got it in. I set up wrong apparently, lol! Local guys were getting impatient, lol! Im sorry but if it looks like Im going to run over a car Im going to stop and get out and look with my own eyes.

Silverdriver, Lonesome and Finfn1372 Thank this.

Personally, I don’t care what tech they wish to use... heck, if I were a betting man, I’d drop dollars to doughnuts that our QC is an android tablet with a skin on it... let us download any and all android apps on it, turn on its data, and track away!!!

but I’m fairly certain that someone in the IT department would have serious concerns about allowing any and all apps onto company hardware... LOL

A tracking app you say? :biggrin_2555:

On MY phone, that MY money pays the bill for? In ADDITION to Abilene’s ability to track the truck?

    Yeah, ok.

There would be about as much of a chance of that happening as my wang growing to 12 inches long.

Lonesome, dwells40, p608 and 3 others Thank this.
