10 or 15 years ago I wasn't training, thus the lack of sleep equates to wore out.

Just coming into West Memphis. I tried sleeping during the day but to no avail. I'll take it over here and need my full hours to get to Pageland for my delivery in the am. Lucky me, I get to drive all night. November can't get here fast enough.

If training wears you out that much and you state that you tried to sleep today and then you get to take over and drive at night why do you train? If you haven't had any sleep then you are taking a chance at hurting yourself or someone else. Just askin

Thats one of the things my wife and I are going to discuss as we are floating around the eastern Caribbean for 10 days on a little boat.

Training is fine, the lack of any resemblance of common sense is what throws me for a loop. This is now the third trainee in a row that has told me the same thing, they are taught to pass the state exam, the company that hires you will train you. I have always felt that with about two years left in this great career I thought it would be nice to give back to a newbie just a little something I've garnered the last 34 years. But let me tell you, it's tough. As far as hurting myself or someone else, one of the things I learned many years ago is when to shut this truck down, tonight is no different, it's shut down with 630 miles to go to delivery, I called into dispatch to let them know, and that's it. Another fine learning experience for my trainee, his trainer shut the truck down because he's tired.

We made it to Sumner, WA. Delivery is in 11 hours, and the GPS says we are 2.4 miles away. The KW's maiden voyage was uneventful and very comfortable. In 2.5 years I have driven 12 different power units. This one definately is the bestfor comfort and ride quality, although I felt the same about the Volvo 780's I had prior to this T680. As long as its green with yellow print I'm good, but this truck definately stands out. To bad I already need a wash.

JB, when I trained at Abilene, the money was great, but the toll it took on me physically and mentally just wasn't worth it. The trucking lifestyle is tough enough, not getting the proper sleep and feeling completely exhausted all the time sucked. Be safe my friend .
