Alright, I thought I’d do something a little different this year instead of a company review. In a nutshell, Abilene is very good for me and what I want. After 7 years here, I’m not going anywhere, especially this close to retirement. So, here are my numbers for 2019.

    179,575 miles run........................$79,013
    11 months of bonus.........................2915
    Yearly mileage bonus.......................1795
    3 weeks pd vacation @1582 each....4746
    Company contribution to my 401K...4100

The reason for 11 months of bonus was because I took off 3 weeks in April and took my wife to Italy. I only am entitled to 2 weeks vacation, but I carried one over and used it in conjunction with the 2 I had. The total miles run includes 31K of training miles. I only had 2 trainees all of last year. So, my total earnings for 2019 was $92,569.

My point for sharing this? To let folks know that I’m happy with Abilene, I run where I like too, I take plenty of time off, and I’m left alone. It’s not just about CPM, as you can see by my numbers, there’s a lot of other tangibles that are factored in.

How long do you normally stay out? Basically how much hometime did you get outside of your 3wks vaca?

I’m out on average 2.5-3 weeks. Home for 5 days. I’m getting lazy in my old age. I know for a fact that this year will be less with miles. I get my longevity raise every April which allows me to slow down a little.

    ***update***
I found my time off notes. I worked a total of 9.5 months and was off 2.5 months, which included 3 weeks in Italy in April and a week in Cancun in July. I guess if I worked more I’d make more, but I’m not willing to stay out anymore than I do.

How could you drive over 18k miles a month? Thats over 4k miles a week. Which yes can be done, but not week after week because of resets.

Training a little would allow that. If you take the 31K of mikes out of the total, then yes, it is doable.

Just heard from my DM that one of his drivers turned down a 5 drop 3300 mile trip because he didn’t want to drive in snow. I’ll just leave this here.

Amazing how some will complain about miles and wanting to go west but only when the weather is nice....
