Past few weekends I've gotten freight with a lot of time on it. Picks up on Friday, delivers 12-14 hours away on Monday, with 40-60 hours of dead time on it.
I hear we're going through a freight recession and the coronavirus is making it worse, so that might explain some of it.
This weekend I actually have a decent load. Not great, but only about 30 hours of extra time on it, which is pretty good compared to what I've been getting.

I’ve been barely getting 8 hours the last 2 days. With all of VA schools shut down for the next 2 weeks, we won’t have the grand baby (well, one night and the next day - can’t go cold turkey from my little pumpkin!), so when I’m off, I’ll be getting some things done around the house. Went to my local Food Lion this morning because my mother didn’t realize she was low on paper towels. LOL none to be found, in fact, the whole aisle was empty of TP, paper towels, and paper plates; however, a little country store had that, her TP, and my Blue Bell ice cream, so all is well in the world.

Its probably to help out with everything going on with the virus. -
I posted this on a few other social media platforms.
This makes me smile. During the non-emergency times there’s not one instance where I, as an OTR truck driver looks for a pat on the back. I have a job, that’s to bring every last item in a consumers life to market. Where’s the pat on the back during the year when everyone takes what folks have in their home for granted? The men and women sitting in these trucks in this picture are the same people doing this same job 24/7/365. The people that need us right now during this national emergency are the same people that take us for granted the rest of the year. Please, stop with the cheering. You want to thank the trucking industry? Be more courteous as we share the roads, when we come to your business to deliver or pick up, don’t treat us like second class citizens.
I was supposed to be in line here in this picture. But I’m not. You see, I’m scheduled for my home time. I haven’t seen my wife, family or home in 3 weeks. It’s time, and bringing a load of toilet paper to market will have to wait while I enjoy a week off.gntorres61, truckguy391, dwells40 and 4 others Thank this. -
