That is probably one of the biggest advantages for me. Never having to worry about finding parking late at night and knowing exactly where you will be going before you get there and where you will be going after that. I am a creature of routine.

    Email... lol

Is an electronic copy of the BOL even legal?
Don’t we need a physical copy of the BOL?

    just asking in general.

Which I can't access from my flipphone.

And even if I could, it would not provide me a useful copy of the BOL. I can't bring it up on the screen to show any interested DOT officers, and I can't print it out.

I guess I could swing by the nearest FedEx store and have them print me one out, as long as they had a way for me to access my email account, and assuming they had a place to park a 72-foot-long commercial motor vehicle. But that seems like a lot of wasted effort, to say nothing of wasted HOS.

They weren't planning on giving me a physical copy of the BOL until I asked. They made a special trip just for me.

But yes, as far as I understand the regulations, you need a physical copy of the BOL or else you're riding dirty.

Up here at a mattress factory in Tobyhanna, PA. They are literally making the mattresses as they load them onto my truck. Mattress rolls off the assembly line, they wrap it in plastic wrap, and then put it in the trailer.

Had to use an 8-2 split to make on-time delivery this morning on my previous load. Turns out they had no idea who I was, why I was there, or when my appointment time was. The paperwork was clearly theirs, so they unloaded me anyways. But I coulda taken the full 10 and nobody woulda cared.

I am going to jump in here, although I am not connected with Abilene one way or the other. But I do enjoy reading the posts here. I am retired, 57 years of trucking and it interested me in reading the pros and cons of local versus the road. I came off the road after 24 years of running the road and spent 10 years doing local work, I HATED EVERY MINUTE OF IT!! But I worked with men who would not do anything but local work.

From Monday thru Friday, it was 12-13 and sometimes 14-15 hours per day, 25 deliveries plus 5 to 10 pickups, mostly freight on the floor. Oh, Sat and Sun were spent trying to rest. I got more rest running the road. Leave out 8 or 9 in the morning, about noon the dispatcher calling, "you empty yet, hurry up, I got a bunch of pickups for you". The minute I got my 10 years and vested in their retirement plan, I said, "stick this job". I headed back out on the road.

Funny story about rules for the sake of rules...

The Denny’s in WM is now open for dinning... my load is late getting to MW, it was supposed to be here last night, so I’ll go grab breakfast...

I walk up and wait to be seated... waitress says masks are required... I look around and notice very few people have their masks on because ... THEY ARE EATING... lol

I offer to cover my nose/mouth with my tee shirt until I get to the table as no one else is wearing them in the booths, then cover my face when leaving... nope... has to be a mask or bandana... lol

this is why people protest... lol
