Got to be careful when laying over in New York. Some towns have signs on the main streets stating no parking on streets between 2 am and 6 am.
I parked on a street beside a customer (a scrap metal yard with a fenced in compound) at 9 pm. When I got up at 7 am I found a parking ticket taped to my drivers side door. I tried to argue with the lady at the courthouse stating that there were no signs posted on that particular street but apparently there were signs on the main street warning of the prohibition. That ticket cost me $120.00. Lesson learned. I will never park on a side street in any town in New York again.

Spent the first 19 years of my life ten miles from there. Sounds like a spot on description of the place!

I totally agree. Thats the reason I hate going to NYC, Brooklyn, Long Island matter fact I haven't delivered in those areas since 2005. Even when I drive I-95 I try my best to go thru NYC area between the hours of 2300-0400.

Thought the same thing until I got there. I had to deliver to a local Stop & Shop in Flatbush. It was right in the middle of a Hasidic (sp?) neighborhood. (My wifes Jewish and she can't spell that word). The loading dock was on a side street right across from row houses, there was absolutely no place to park after getting unloaded, which I might add took all of 30 minutes. I had about 56 minutes left on my clock when I was done so I decided to leave and go back over the Verrazano Bridge back into Jersey. I had already gotten my reload for today so I tried to find a safe haven to park, one that didn't have signs all over the place saying no trucks, no parking, no idling and no whatever else they could fit on a sign. As I was going through the toll plaza I went into violation. Not a big concern on my part. I figure dispatch wanted me to do this load knowing I would run out of hours right there, then as the captain of this ship I felt it prudent to do the safe thing, and find a place that didn't have signs saying no this, no that and oh yeah, no to that also.
And this neighborhood was no different with their signs.
It was a nice drive over there, and the town itself was very picturesque, it just took me what seemed like forever to get there.
I was born there, in the Bronx, grew up there and spent my first 27 years there. Learned how to drive one of these things there, but it sure doesn't make it any easier. In fact, I can very well appreciate what someone goes through from other parts of the country, it really does suck, and I know where I'm going. -
I have to reload in Hazleton Pa before 2pm today. The load is going to Texas but it has a long delivery time on it and I was instructed to drop it at our Wytheville yard. I'll be there late tonight and will get something off the yard that will keep me running over the weekend. Right now I've been waiting the last 2 hours for my clock to tell me I'm not tired anymore. Isn't it nice to have something tell you when you are tired and when you aren't?
Jrdude5, mr truckdriver and runningman0661 Thank this. -
Amen to the qualcom saying your not tired!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!JohnBoy Thanks this.

JohnBoy So what does log department say when you drive out of hours. It obvious there was now way to get in and out of NYC legally. No fault of your and I know that the regulation says to the nearest safe haven. Thanks
JohnBoy Thanks this. -
Hey Johnboy was that stop&shop on avenue Y and east 18th street by chance.

To drive and find a safe haven and write it up in the remarks column while coming out of Brooklyn at 10 o'clock at night, what can they say? I don't make a habit out of it. This is just the second time in 3 months so it isn't an ongoing issue. We have drivers that seem to do it every few days, that's an issue.
