I listened to Willie's Roadhouse all the time when I was out there. One of the thing I miss most about not being out there. I see you are around Norfolk. I lived in Norfolk and drove for Carolina Trailways from 1963 to 1972. Ran the Eastern Shore hundreds of times, when going north after we got off the ferry, the first traffic light was Pocomoke, Md

Yep. the Bridge Tunnel opened April 15th, 1964 It was a big day, between Trailways and Greyhound, there were 150 buses out there. All 150 made the maiden voyage across and back.

Wow! I wasn’t even born yet! LOL Born and raised in the little town of Windsor. Been trying to leave ever since I was 18. Being OTR was the closest I’ve been able to come to getting the heck out of there. But, if things keep going like they are with my mothers health, I won’t be here much longer.

Best years of my life were spent there in Norfolk. Best bunch of men that I have ever worked with. We had over 100 drivers in Norfolk and we were one big family. Great company, we were union made good money with great benefits. On any given Friday, we would take 50 buses to the military bases and load nothing but service personnel, week-end leave. Most would go to NYC or Philadelphia.

Tripped and fell into a briar patch 3am this morning behind my trailer making sure my lights were working. Good thing I keep a first aid kit, lol! Hands, arms, legs and knees were shredded. I feel kinda dumb....

So Pocomoke to Cape Charles with no traffic lights back then? I’ll bet that was a nice ride.
