Driving around with your bed over your shoulder far outweighs driving around as a lumper that happens to have CDL.

Welp, it don't happen often, but they're getting an overnight drive out of me. Current load delivers tomorrow at 10:00am local time (11:00am Richmond time), I will have exactly 8:34 on my 70 once midnight hits, and according to my GPS the receiver is 8:24 away. So I will be chugging an energy drink right before bed so I can fall asleep before it kicks in, then a few hours sleep, then up-and-at-'em at 1:30am to make on-time delivery.

And then I'll be out of hours and stuck at the Pilot in Lebanon, TN. Already told 'em to put a load on me for Saturday morning 'cause I don't wanna take a 34 at that Pilot.

Just got my driver settlement sheet. The miles and the amount were both very small. I know I've done more miles than that since my last paycheck.

Then I remembered we've gone to weekly pay, so this is my first weekly check. Only a week's worth of miles on it.

Miles are still low on it though because it's missing three days of my recent trip to Reno.

Got slowed down too much on this starbuck's load. Tried to tell them I really didn't have the hours to do it but office folks sure seemed to think I could go 2200 miles with only 30 hours on my 70. I even took the shortest route too. They arranged a swap so Im in Booneville MO at the pilot waiting on driver Im swapping with. Supposed to do a 34 then they are supposed to get me a load to WA for my home time coming up.

And when you get done lumping you have a 35 min commute to get to your bed.

I can’t blame you. Food service is an ugly business. Too much like work for me

We have a customer, who uses one of their old ancient road tractors as a spotter. GMC Astro cabover, with I think a 318 Detroit under the bonnet. He has maybe a half mile ride between the plants, and loves to wind ;er out!

JohnBoy, MACK E-6 and Redtwin Thank this.
