Heading south on the West Virginia Turnpike, hauling an empty dry van back to the Wytheville yard from Columbus. Drove past a recovery crew trying to extricate an Abilene reefer laying on its side off the shoulder of the road. Was right before the exit for Beckley.
Tractor was not with the trailer, so either they already got him loose, or he managed to somehow avoid wrecking the tractor when he lost the trailer.
I foresee another speed turn down in our near future.

Wine from WA to CA. BOL says 43,000lbs, start pulling and feels light. Weigh it and load is around 23,000 lbs. better lighter than heavier going to CA. Sky was pitch black and orange south of Portland this morning due to wild fires I guess. Was like driving at night. Smoke sure is thick out here.

Doing something tonight that I almost never do: Park in a shopping center parking lot.
Had a Boar's Head delivery at 1:30am in the outskirts of Orlando. Spent last night at the Wytheville TA with plans to drive to Orlando and park at or near the receiver for the overnight delivery.
Woke up this morning to a qualcomm message to call the dude at the receiver. So I did, and he said that if I could get there by 6:00pm, he'd unload me early. Since 6:00pm was my original ETA in any case, I said that sounded good to me.
Got here, got unloaded, but by the time he finished I was out of hours. Asked him if there was any place close by to park. He told me about a McDonalds with a large parking lot just a quarter mile away.
Turns out, the parking lot is not actually part of the McDonald's. And I did see an "Unauthorized vehicles will be towed" sign nearby.
But on the other hand the dude at the deli says that trucks park overnight here all the time. And everybody at the little Italian restaurant near the parking lot says they have trucks parked overnight here all the time. And the other truck driver parked next to me says he's parked here overnight a few times before without difficulty.
So I got my fingers crossed.Lonesome, jarhead0311, JohnBoy and 3 others Thank this. -
