Well my 6 drop 3450 mile trip is done. On my way in to Seattle yesterday morning I got my reload assignment. 61 mile deadhead for a live load in Olympia going down to Colton to drop in the drop yard. I’m here to tell you, I worked for every penny I made dragging the 44K of Pepsi products up and over, around and through every mountain I crossed. I have hometime scheduled starting Wednesday for a week, and true to form, I got my load assignment this afternoon. After I drop this trailer, I bobtail up to San Bernardino to pick up a trailer going to Fort Pierce Fl, 61 miles from the house for a Tuesday evening delivery.

I’ve been running recaps the last 3.5 weeks, very unusual for me. I’m one of these drivers that rather burn my 70 in 5.5 days then reset. This way I’m much more tired. I also will have been gone 5.5 weeks by the time I get home. That’s my choice. And quite honestly, not a very good decision on my part. This garbage out here will be here whether I run 2-3 weeks or 6. I’m getting too old for this. My plan now is to take a weeks vacation on top of a week off for Thanksgiving, then take 3 weeks off for Christmas and New Years. This pandemic needs to disappear after the election, my wife and I are planning a month in Greece and the Greek Isles in July.

Pick him up and you both can go back to Richmond... one to get a new truck and one to get a new load.

I agree on feeling more warn out running recaps. I experimented with that for the last 18 day stretch and didn’t like only running 8 hours a day. I think I will go back to running my hours out and resetting. Have a safe trip back East and enjoy the home time.

Out 5.5 weeks? Yuck! I’d be chomping at the bit to get out of the truck. 3 weeks was my maximum. That was only if I needed to take some extra time off. How was the weather going across? Looking at the weather channel, it looks a little iffy. Safe travels.

Cold was the worst of it. It snowed on me doing my first drop in Council Bluffs. After that it was nice all the way across. Now it’s a different story. I’ll be going all the way across 10 to home, no hurricanes or cold.

Oh, I love 10! Except in Louisiana. Such a beautiful ride. Not a lot of traffic. Except in Louisiana. Can you tell I’m not a huge fan of that state? Except for boudin and alligator po’ boys.
