Thank u. I tried asking about dropping on the yard but my DM said no as load was already late when I picked it up in De Witt,IA. Guess they dnt want it sitting on the yard.

It’s a drop. And they probably won’t unload it until Monday afternoon anyway.

I called weekend ppl and stihl wanted load asap and there was a note in the system also saying do not bring to the yard as stihl is a 24/7 drop facility.

Back in 2003, I had thyroid cancer. To solve this particular problem, they just took out my thyroid. So I ain't got one. But you gotta have one to live, so I take thyroid meds every day to function.

Most of the time it's not a problem, but every so often, maybe once or twice a year, it becomes a problem. I get physically deep bone tired and I stay that way all the time, no matter how much rest I get. No help for it but to wait for my body to unf*** itself, which takes a few days.

Normally it's manageable and I can drive through it because, hey, we ain't lifting rocks for a living here. Don't take much effort to hold a steering wheel. This weekend, though, it really hit me. Worst it's been since I started driving a truck. Felt weak as a newborn kitten.

Fortunately for me, I was on the yard. They had told me to take a 34 when I got back to the yard on Thursday and they said they would try and find me a load leaving Saturday morning sometime. I said "Sure". Never got the load, though, and by the time Saturday morning rolled around, I was in the full grip of my rebellious biochemistry.

So I just laid low. It's been my experience that if you're on the yard on the weekends without a load, they will very often forget completely about you, a fact I have used to my advantage a few times during football season. And sure enough, yesterday went by without incident.

Feeling a bit better today, though, which means I'm on the upswing, and should be good to go tomorrow. So I called 'em and told 'em "Hey, I still could use a day off, but y'all can set me up something for tomorrow morning if you got it."

Turns out they'd already set me up for a Florida load that was supposed to leave yesterday. But they never sent it. Dispatch told me "Yep, shows right here that the load assignment was never sent." So I didn't know I was on it, and nobody else was on it either. And it's due tomorrow.

    Oops.

Good thing I called. Hopefully they got a team op that can get it down there on time.

Stihl wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be size wise. Had me drop it in the corner of the yard. So much for needing it asap, lol!

Oh my that must be frustrating if not scary.

So glad the Meds help to keep things balanced most of the time and that you recognize when it’s not quite right and can wait it out for the upswing to come around. Hope all goes well for you.

Dealing with health issues OTR is a big concern for all of us... be it our own health while away from home or health issues of loved ones back home.

let’s all take good/better care of ourselves

I’ve been hearing some rumblings the past couple days about y’all’s safety bonus being taken away. Any truth to that particular rumor?
