Like I’ve said for years, all these companies are the same, just a different color. Just so happy I’m a short timer. It doesn’t matter if I get a raise or not, in 13 months I’m done.

I question why people continue to stay somewhere they’re so miserable at? That way of life isn’t how we’re designed to live you know?

For me, if you look back at what I’ve posted over the years, it’s where I need to be at the moment. Once all the work of closing my mothers estate is finished, it’ll be a different story. This company has been good to me for the most part. It has; however, changed quite a bit from what it was when I came on board. Also, one just cannot simply quit and go somewhere new when one has commitments to deal with and know that 100% cannot be given to that someplace new until those commitments have been taken care of. Whether that something new is local, OTR, or a job that isn’t driving, I don’t yet know.

Delivering a load to Food Lion here in Salisbury, NC. Big line of trucks ahead of me waiting to get in. I arrivee at 5:20pm for a 6:00pm appointment, and it looked like I might not even get through the gate before then.

Fortunately, a security guard took matters in hand and I pulled up to the gatehouse around 5:50pm.

    <Guard> First time here?
    <Me> Yeah.
<Guard> Welp, you're gonna hate it here. This place sucks.

I have been instructed to park over in a lot with a few dozen other trucks while we all wait our turn. The guard suggested that I go ahead and get some sleep while I wait.

I am not exactly brimming with confidence that this will be a smooth delivery.

    Lonesome Thanks this.

John Boy is correct. Most mega’s are all the same regardless of what pages of the glossy truck stop magazines tell you. If you live in an area where a mega is your only choice to make a living then I get it. If you have to stay gone 4-6 weeks that isn’t a life either regardless of what you make. If you have the opportunity move to a private fleet. Lots more money and weekends at home where you belong instead of the truck stop bs. Just my 2 cents.
