Thank you for the information about the application! They aren't going to get any information from his current full-time employer. They called him in the office when they got a reference request from another trucking company and he was told if he was looking for another job to hit the door. That's a ridiculous stance to take when he's the only remaining driver! It's not a big deal as far as experience because he drives a standard size pickup for them but he has been there going on 3 years so it shows job stability. He's never been a job hopper even when the position turned out to be less than desirable. His other current reference would be more beneficial to Abilene as he drives a tractor trailer part-time for them. He's going to give them a call this afternoon to see what they have and give them the name of another person in the company to ask for that can provide his reference information without jeopardizing his job. I thought he had put the guys name on the application but I know a lot of companies aren't doing telephone references and have gone to mailing or faxing written requests. I'd be interested in knowing what if anything they have rec'd back. I'll post when I get additional information. Thanks again!

Now that sucks. I'm sure glad I'm at the end of my driving career and won't have to deal with this crap soon. After 34 years of this nonsense, 4 more years will be here rather quickly. Like I always say, and truly believe, people and companies that do things like this will answer to Karma.

My Husband is 4 years younger than you and has been driving since he started working at 18. He has for the most part drove local so he wouldn't have to be away from home but we always said one day we would go over the road together. Then when the youngest left home I was making too much money to give up my job so it got put on hold again. I became disabled and lost my job in 2010, spent the past 4 years having approx. 50 surgeries so again it was put on hold. Well I'm down to 2 final surgeries (I pray) that can be done when I'm ready and, although, I'll never be able to work again (chemo really does a number on your brain) we can, at least, now live our dream. Except this piss ### employer he has is holding us back. I'm going to have to get him to ask Paper Transport what they got back from references that met their experience qualification. I'm thinking that with 30+ years driving and a clean driving record they feel if he passes their road test then they know he is a skilled driver. I requested a copy of his DAC to see what is on it but I don't think anybody he has worked for reported. Yeah, His current employer is in for a rude awakening. He thinks because he has kept the company going for 30 years that it will continue to thrive. BUT, the remaining employees that can drive and make deliveries if that have to are leaving at the same time at the end of October. No one is giving notice becaues of the owner's hit the door attitude. Sucks to be him. But greedy people seem to survive and prosper unfortunately. If anyone sees Karma tell her she needs to pay Bernie a visit:biggrin_2559:

Got my marching orders earlier today. I have to go up to Fort Pierce and pick up an abandon reefer at some storage yard, then start heading north. I can't wait to find out more about this deal. This trailer has been at this lot since July. I'm leaving about 9am. I spoke to my new trainee, he will be done with orientation tomorrow night, then get on my truck Friday some time.

Been running hard except for a layover in Laredo. Two in a half days to get from Richmond to Laredo, a day layover then two days to get here in Duffield, VA. Just up from Kingsport, TN. Had to keep the left door shut on these 700 mile days. 3,000 miles from Fri to today. Gotta be back in Baltimore for two Dr appt Fri morning so I'm gonna be bugging them to get out of here in the morning. Good thing is I have 11:05 on my 70 for tomorrow. You have my number, I don't have yours.

Sounds like it ,wonder if that reefer might be the one that the driver who moved into the office BIG BREN ? was looking for at 1 time when he went to Florida to recover a truck but trailer was MIA
