Plus a few more safety checks in place. Like a super HV load that requires you to call in everytime you stop, and call in again when you leave, then the very rare instance where you’ll be followed by a security detail from pickup point to the city limits. Other than that, it’s just a day in the park. If you don’t have hours or fuel you won’t be able to pick up the trailer.

I understand high value but driving 200 miles makes it no more secure IMO. Driver safety is more important. But shippers only care about one thing, their shipment!

Do they pay any extra for hauling these loads?

Don’t forget to tell them you’re reading a Playboy at the time.

Of course not. That one load of super value I hauled was 5 years ago. I’ve hauled a bunch of not so high value. It’s not like any one driver hauls these loads on a regular basis. My take on these loads? If someone wants it, they’ll get it. If they need me to drive the truck somewhere looking at a gun, no problem. Just let me take my phone, a change of underwear, and I’ll give them an hours head start before I call the cavalry. I’ve always said, it doesn’t matter if I have a load of ping pong balls, hearts and lungs for transplant or a multimillion dollar load of computer parts or ink, a load is a load. The only 2 instances of theft that happened in the 8 years I’m here were inside jobs.dwells40, Barn Door Bill and Flatbedder 1966 Thank this.

Feel better.

I’ve been around, just been keeping a bit of a lower profile lately.

Parked at Love's in El Reno, OK for the night waiting for snowmageddon to hit tonight. May just sit til Monday if it gets as bad as the weather reports say. Below zero temps with windchill and some are still wearing shorts and flipflops....prob learn their lesson if their toes get frost bitten, lol! Hope everybody is safe wherever you are.

Good decision. It’s not looking good across the panhandle.jarhead0311 Thanks this.
