You too. I was fixin’ to haul boogie home. Would’ve already been gone, but David stopped me to chat for a few. I do miss running local - for him - but not the one running it now. Eventually, I’ll get my groove back in OTR. Hopefully, on this trip.

Think of it as being a Trainer for both Drivers and Driver Mangers ... about the same churn.

Don’t need any of it. I ended my training career today. The last thing I need in my life is training yet another new DM whose chances of making it a year are slim to none. My last DM I had for more then a year was 5 years ago. Since then every other one has lasted no more then 10 months, and as little as 2 months. Again, I will say this, the worst job to have in an OTR company is any position in operations. A driver? If you don’t hit anything, do your job, you can walk in, drop a deuce on the presidents desk, and get dispatched the same day.

I’ve been asking for that the last 2 years. It’ll never happen. You know how we’re set up here. The DM’s sole purpose consist’s of 1 of 2 jobs here, either a babysitter or a personal secretary, I haven’t needed a baby sitter here for 8 years.

When I worked at Schneider my DBL ( the equivalent of your DM) told me the sole purpose of his job was to keep drivers from yelling at planners and to keep planners from yelling at drivers.

This is the same function waiters serve in a restaurant. Their primary job is to keep the customers and the cooks away from each other.
